Best place for a PPI in DC/Alexandria VA?

Hello all,

I'm considering a car in the north east side of the country and I will be checking it out this weekend. Got the paperwork rolling, but before I tie the knot with the car I'm leaning towards an inspection. The dealer selling the car is not a Porsche dealer. Any ideas as to where I could get a PPI done in DC or surrounding areas?

Thanks!!

you may want to try: TPC in Jessup MD, Intersport in Tysons Va, IMA or Autothority in Chantilly, Autotherapy in Gaithersburg MD. And i'm assuming any dealer in the area will do it.

Thanks! One of my concerns was that the car had a clutch replacement by a non-Porsche shop, however, it appears that the name is one of the shops you mentioned above: Intersport Performance. This one says that the shop is in McLean, VA and not Tysons...is it the same shop? What's the reputation of the shop?

Thanks!

yep, same shop. good rep on the forums. check out/search the dorkiphus board - it's local to the area so there are prob a lot of threads and comments on intersport.

Intersport is great - I just purschased a car from them and while there was some twists and turns in the deal, they were great. I had my PPI done at Arlington Porsche and I would absolutely not use them as they missed some inspection details and may have done some inapproprite changes to the car.

Good luck with everything!

lol interesting...the dealer I'm purchasing from did it backwards and possibly because I expressed a concern; they had Intersport check out the car and even replace the clutch. I asked them why would they not take it to a Porsche dealer if the car is under warranty, so yesterday they took it to Arlington Porsche to ensure the services are up to date and that the car is ready for a 10-11 hour trip ... I hope they didn't screw up something as simple as a service.

Thank you for the feedback...I feel better knowing that the ones who installed the clutch have a good reputation.

EDIT: By the way, that's quite the collection you have there...I wouldn't mind it if you threw a pic of your Z8 in here...no I won't consider it thread hijacking haha

Intersport has been around for a while. Actually, my parents are very good friends with the owners parents but I have yet to buy a car off Omar, but I would. He's been around P-cars for as long as I can remember. I got my car from Tysons Porsche.

IMA is solid, Authority is good and their prices are by far the best. Which car are you interested in?

Here you go (I have been using the Boxster on snow days - once I sell it the 4S will take over that role):

Gorgeous...ironically while in DC I saw a Z8 driving around just like yours haha

In regards to the car I went to see, I passed on it. Even after explaining over the phone multiple times how meticulously picky I am and how easily I can spot paint work, they insisted the car was flawless. Showed up and within 10 seconds spotted flaws in what seemed to be a terrible front bumper respray...they also thought I was crazy since I showed up with a paint meter lol

The hunt for my Carrera S continues!!

If you find another car in the DC area I have no issues driving by and taking a look for you before you make that trip. Just let me know!

Good luck in you search.

Maybe I missed it in the thread.
But, stud, what did you end up getting? Can you share with us?

Thanks

No you didn't miss it, I didn't get anything, sadly.

I was looking into, considering, and greatly negotiated a 2009 C2S for about a week. The dealer did not disclose that the car had had paint work, despite the fact that I emphasized multiple times how picky I am and how easily I can spot defects, paint work, etc.

I went to see the car, and let's just say that within 10 seconds I already knew I wasn't buying it...front bumper had been repainted.

Still in the hunt!
