Even if it had been concrete...it would have scarred the top edge of the rim which protrudes the most, not below it in the location where it happened.

I agree it s likely the car wash but maybe the same principal would apply to loading it on ramp type lift or car carrier ramps during transport????

I use a tunnel here in town that has only arches for soap and rinse, there is no wheel brush, and they actually hand wash it in the tunnel. They also allow you to drive it onto the rack yourself, so I know I can pull mine on there without hurting it. It's convenient in the winter but since it has warmed up I just wash mine myself.
Next time you're there, check the "rags" they use to hand wash your car - they probably do more damage than brushes.

I made same mistake and have same inside rim scratches. The car wash manager told me their tracks were 15in but guess lesson learned. Now I am looking to find a place to get them fixed.

I've taken mine to many over many years
3 different 911's
After 1 popped a valve stem off, I get out beforehand and measure the track.
Some know but most don't.
The Newer ones are perfect!
They are designed for wide wheels.
I meet dudes all the time that cringe when I say I take it through auto tunnel washes.
No need for anybody to also slam me for it.
Come to think of it,...I'm taking it to Mister Carwash in Annapolis tomorrow, lol

I would think any rim refinisher would be able to mount those wheels on their lathe and turn the edge to make it true and perfect again.

The only cars I take through a automated carwash are daily drivers that I do not care about. At present, non of my cars fall into that category; so, I have to wash them all myself. Good therapy though.

How about a small stone or other object becoming lodged between your brake caliper and the wheel?
