What could have caused these deep scratches on inside rim?

Take a look at these pictures of the *inside* rim/edge of my left rear wheel.

See how there are deep scratches all around the entire rim? The scratches are radial, pointing towards the center of the wheel.

These don't look like curb rash, because they are not circular. So I don't think I scraped the inside of my tire against something.

Since the scratches are not all in the same direction, it doesn't look like a technician dragged and scraped the tire along the floor.

It kind of looks like someone took a worn lathe to my wheel!

I don't see any damage inside my wheel well; nothing looks like it broke off and scraped the inside of my wheel as I drove. (Besides, the tire sidewall is pristine).

Anyone see this before? What could have caused this?

Could a wheel mounting machine do this? What about a balancing machine?

Thanks guys. I never take my car to the car wash, but I did once this winter, and now I regret it!

You think it's worth repairing, or just leave it?

Since it's only visible when the wheel is off, I wouldn't bother unless you think the balance is off...or if you're always going to think about it (even if you can't see it).

I'm surprised, given the width of your wheels and the limited ride height of the car that you can even get a Porsche through a track driven car wash ? The car wash folks didn't try to talk you out it ?

I go all the time to automatic tunnels.

Half the time they don't allow me in, half the time they do. I specifically ask and I look at the width and height of the rail.
Not had anything bad happen. And I use to hand wash in my driveway ALL the time.
Paint looks great!

It looks more to me like the wheel was on a concrete floor and slid across the surface....?
