Hesitating on getting the 991

Well, I'm getting spring fever and the itch to get a convertible again. So I've been looking at the new 991 C2S cabs. I currently have a 2009 C2S pdk coupe with 42K miles and no problems (mods include upgraded stereo, IPD plenum, center muffler bypass, and a few cosmetic things). My car was in a (minor) frontal crash 2 years ago, causing a $5000 repair which was reported to carfax.
Looks perfect now.
I found the car I want, but this is going to be expensive! The dealer isn't offering me a lot for my car--for a modded 2009 green launch car with 42K miles and a carfax report. And even with a discount, the new car I want sells for about $125K.
Now my hesitation(s):
1) The 991 is so much more refined than the 997. A different league. But my other car is a 2013 Lexus GS350 F-Sport (which I love). The 997, being more raw, is probably a better counterpoint to my refined--though rockin'-- Lexus daily driver.
2) The car I found is not at my local dealer. It's a floor model at one 2 hours away. But I would take it to my local dealer for servicing, and then I will perhaps be treated as a second class citizen...lol (I know, no big deal).
3) MOST IMPORTANT: I'd worry about my $125K car (again). I feel liberated now driving my current Porsche. It's been in an accident, and depreciated, so I park it almost anywhere, even at the supermarket. I don't worry about it any more! That's a great feeling. I haven't even bought the new cab yet, and I'm already getting nervous...lol
Anyone else go through similar thoughts? Any advice?

I'd say if you feel nervous, i would wait a year or so. Your car won't depreciate that much more but the 991 has to (hopefully)

There are plenty of CPO'ed 2012 991 around in the country. Spend some time and shop around.

You probably work hard, probably have great responsibilities in this world, if this is something you really want, will make you happy every day, and you can afford it - life is too precious to not be decisive.
If I were you, since your relatively happy with what you have .....I'd custom order exactly what you want from Porsche and see if you can get the same % off msrp as the car your looking at.

I thought about getting a 991 as well. Test drove a Yellow Non S model. While it feels good and has all the new trick stuff....in the end....my 997 felt quicker, I have an S, and it felt more Raw. More of a drivers car and not a plush sports car. If I need more power, I'll put in a VF Supercharger.

I love 991 as you exactly
but I will not buy it yet
I'd rather wait 1-2 yrs enjoying my 997 turbo - 2007 with all modification I did...
my little advice... enjoy your cars
or at least if you hate your Porsche sell it now & await with your super nice Lexus which I love it so much also for 2 yrs
then sell it & got the Porsche you like ;-)

Check out Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville. Great dealership and they appear to have a pretty good inventory of 911s. Plus if you buy through them you will be invited to the driving experience with Hurley Haywood.

+1...I'm local to them and the only reason I did not buy from them is that they had not been able to get what I was looking for, but I started building a good relationship with one of their sales consultant when my search for a 997.2 started. I tried to hold on to my rental as much as I could while they looked for a car for me, but it ended up being too much of a waste of money had I continued waiting.

They do seem to keep good inventory most of the time, and at the moment I think they have quite a few 991's. If you'd like me to, I would be more than willing to go check out a car for you if interested. I'm an enthusiast and don't mind helping out a fellow enthusiast.

I have a 2008 911S. I love it. I have wanted one since 1968 ( this gives you an idea of my age) so "only a 911 would do". I am one of those that always considered the 911 to be the only real road Porsche. I would have to say, though, that the new Boxster is really an improvement and that today I would seriously consider one if I were in the market for a new Porsche. The Boxster (S) would give any real Porsche enthusiast great pleasure..... there, I said it....test drive one!

I have been getting all these emails from our local dealerships offering 20k to 25k off their leftover models of porsches including the 991's. Hard to believe they wont discount much. You should look out of state and far and have it delivered to you.

Update:
Traded in my 997 for a 991 (C2S cab pdk). Couldn't resist. (I leased it...primarily for peace of mind --not worrying about it as much-- over cost of ownership issue...)
All I can say is WOW...the 991 is a supercar. Doesn't quite have the same rear-engine feel of my 997, but it's unbelievable.
