Help please.. Replace entire panel? Hit & Run :(

So I came out of my house one evening and saw devastation to my 2007 997 C2 (26k mi). Its first hit of any kind on this car. Please see attached.

So I'd appreciate your input - using my own insurance to fix.
They are paying for (and says that Porsche requires) them to replace the entire quarter panel.

As you can see, its minimal damage right where body panel meets bumper cover.
It is literally peeled forward. The metal is still there.
However, on the opposite side of the wheelwell there is also scuff damage and its scraped and pushed in.

Now I am new to this and defer to your expertise, but my concern is -
Structural integrity, entire body panel cut off and replaced versus welding on or using bondo on the one small part.

I own this car, love this car and want to have it for my kids even after I move on from it.

What are your thoughts?? What is best for my car?

THANK YOU.
Mark.

Try as hard as you can to keep the original panel in place. Advances in technology make it possible today for a shop to replace the panel and if done well, most people wouldn't notice; however, if it were my car, I'd like for all original parts to remain.

if it was my car, I would prefer to get this small area soldered, patch, sand and spray rather than replacing the pannel. same for the bumber.

get the "replacing" insurance check, pay for "fixing" it and cash the difference

I also would try to fix the panel, as I think the rear quarter is a continuous piece flowing from the roof. Will a panel have to be cut and a new piece welded in and joined? I am sure Porsche/body shop can do it, obviously cars get hit in the rear quarters all the time, but it looks very salvageable.

Panels a fairly easy fix but you need to replace the bumper. I would not repair that.

personally i would replace both. the panel for sure and you could probably get away with having the bumper resprayed since its urethane and damage looks minimal. might be a good time to get a gt3 or 997.2 rear bumper if thats your flavor.

Ask your insurance company to be compensated for diminished value...

If you replace the panel the car will have structural damage. This will dramatically affect the value of the car. I would fight hard to get a diminished value check and have the panel repair not replaced.

Replace the bumper, they are urethane and meant to be easily replaced
