IMS failure on way to trade for 991S!!!!
You might want to consider having them fix it (they probably will) and then selling it out-right instead of trading. You could probably find a good buyer for a 997 with a brand new engine. You know the dealer is going to push that angle when they get it on their used lot.

Best of luck to the OP.
I disagree. Imagine there are two identical cars sitting there on the lot, one with an engine with a bunch of miles and one with a brand new engine (due to IMS, not overev or something abusive). I'm picking the new engine with revised IMS and a warranty. Any informed 997.1 shopper that understands the IMS issue would agree. A new engine is not a bad thing.
All I want is the trade value that we had agreed on and take delivery of my 991S. I'll be a happy camper!!! Good for them if a new engine makes them more money on the sell of my 997S.
Hopefully the dealer just takes it, fixes it under warranty and you move on with your new 991!
Best of luck, I feel your pain. I would expect that you will pay some $ out of pocket but given this scenario I think the dealer will make sure that Porsche will do what's right.
Gotta subscribe here to learn of the outcome. Man, that pick only makes me think of a man laying on the side of the road bleeding out. Can't imagine the feeling. However, it seems that you are at least well positioned to come out of this well. Best of luck and I'm pulling for you.
Dont feel bad, i've pretty much gotten wiped out in the stock market the past few months with AAPL...could be worse..i coulda bought a brand new 991S with my losses
