IMS failure on way to trade for 991S!!!!
Should be a decision requiring a minimum of deliberation by PCNA but I guess not since they're putting a loyal customer about to drop well over $100K on a new car through a second day of water torture now. What's at stake here? Probably a rebuilt engine for close to $20K retail. Cost to PCNA? Half that or less? Cost of PCNA refusing the trade as is? Sure has the earmarks of a PR fiasco that would expand far beyond this forum. Really hope it doesn't come to that but if it does, maybe it would be helpful to all -05 through -08 owners since it would bring the IMS design flaw to the forefront.

Dealer sent the claim information to PCNA yesterday morning. No word yet. This not knowing is torture. I have a return flight a week from tomorrow. I hope I don't have to reschedule. Should I contact PCNA myself or just wait to hear from the dealer? Anxious.
I think you'll be fine in the end. You are under the best circumstances for a IMS failure. You are barely out of your CPO warranty period and there are stories of Porsche covering the IMS out of good will for those whose warranty just ended. Secondly, you're trading in for another Porsche so that just helps your case out since its money back in their pockets.
You might want to consider having them fix it (they probably will) and then selling it out-right instead of trading. You could probably find a good buyer for a 997 with a brand new engine. You know the dealer is going to push that angle when they get it on their used lot.
Gotta subscribe here to learn of the outcome. Man, that pick only makes me think of a man laying on the side of the road bleeding out. Can't imagine the feeling. However, it seems that you are at least well positioned to come out of this well. Best of luck and I'm pulling for you.
In the morning, all that was left was a chalk outline and a large dark oil spot on the asphalt...
I'm in agreement with others who've responded, and feel confident that PCNA will do the right thing, given the circumstances. Hopefully, much sooner than later.
Consider a left over, new GTS. Take a test drive in both and then make a decision. You could probably save 35 grand and get a more connected car!!! Still havent seen any GTS issues. But have seen annoying 991 issues.
While we're waiting for an answer from PCNA, I have a question...just out of curiosity, what made you go all the way from Nashville to Appleton for your new 991?

First it's the exact car I would have ordered from Porsche minus one option (PDCC) that I can live without. Second is price, 12K off sticker and they gave me a really good number on my trade. The car isn't brand new only 707 miles. First owner traded a Mercedes AMG for it at end of January then brought it back 5 weeks later and traded back for new AMG. Said back seats weren't adequate for his needs. Sounds weird maybe but dealer said its crazy like that sometimes. Bonus - owner had clear bra installed before it ever left dealership. Full hood and fender treatment. I inspected inside and out and could not discern it from a brand new off the truck model.
