991 20's...not!
well, I finally got these sorted and mounted and drove 'bout an hour and took 'em off... just don't like the feel, a bit rougher, but that's not the thing, really, maybe its that they're Pirelli...? first I've had them, and I came from and went back to, Michelin's PSS, I think that is what they are, but then, i'm not that good a driver to even be able to recognize differences in tires, but there was something, and at +150kph the car was drifting , not much, but noticeable...y'know, I didn't put that little face in there, wow, this thing is reading my mind...anyway, I also had to put 235/30's on the front and they look ridiculous, I kept 295/30's on the back, still 20's just look a little big...and I really like my Carrera sports just fine, so off they go to ebay (the 991 20's)...hopefully i'll re-coup my outlay, or most of it, and for those of you that like the 20's on the 997...

Are those 20's on your car or those 19's?

sorry, I was drifting there like the Pirellis, long day... I have the 19's on again...tried the 991 20" wheels with Pirelli tires for an hour, didn't like the look or the ride...went back to the sport 19's with Michelins, much mo betta... I have 19000km's on the Michelins and they are original tires and they are probably 1/2 gone...can't wait till they are kaput...they are from 2008...and I can get new ones... I will try the super sports next time...never thought I would be able to tell the difference between tires but I know that I like Michelin better than Pirelli, well, now, that's not fair cause the Michelins are 19" and the Pirellis are 20" and thinner sidewall...anyway these tires aren't supposed to last this long...maybe I better get busier in corners...

Right decision in my book. I like the look of the 19" Sports much better than 20" anythings. Wheels 20" and above belong on Hummers, Cadillacs and pickup trucks.

Did you use the stock rubber from the 991 or did you buy tires after you bought the rims?
From what i've been told the stock rubber off 991 20's won't fit 997's, the circumference is too big

I think both wheels look nice.
But frankly, I can't tell the difference from the pictures...
A Porsche 997 has a length of 175.6".
On my large monitor, kkswow12's 997 is about 8.5".
A 20" wheel has 1/2 inch extra on both sides of the hub, compared to a 19" wheel.
Therefore, in this picture of the car, the difference is about 0.024" on either side of the center of the wheel, for 19" vs. 20" wheels.
My eyes just aren't good enough to spot that 0.024" !!!

the rears fit fine but I had to go down from 245/35/20 to 235/30 on the fronts, just a hair to big... and then putting those rubber bands on the front just made it look that much worse...

Some have put 20's on and they look really good. I personally prefer 19s.
BUT, I really like the look of that wheel on your car. It would probably look even better in 19s.
This is my opinion, but I do not understand the obsession with the sports. That wheel just looks so dated to me.
