Parking light failure that fixed itself after a drive
Parking light failure that fixed itself after a drive
I leave my lights on automatic for helping me enter my house, but one parking light came on, the other didn't. I checked my switch, and it was right. I got back in and put the key in the ignition and it showed a "Parking light still on" message. I turned it all off, but the the light message would not change no matter where I put the light selector. I got back out and pressed the remote lock, and then no auto parking lights at all. I started the car and turned it off, no error message but no lights either. I got back in, drove it around the block and now it is just fine. Should I be planning on some kind of looming problem or is it just a fluky issue?

I'll try that as I was bouncing in and out right before that (cleaning windows from the inside).
I'm assuming that the system uses a computer, and computers have bugs from time to time. It was just odd, and at first a bit unnerving.

Just curious though, what's the point of half the lights on the car working if you leave the turn signal on but the ignition off? It wouldn't be using electricity anyway once the autolights turn off.
At first I was thinking the small bulb was burned out and was not relishing trying to get to the little light. I just replaced the horns by taking the entire bumper off. I know it's easier to take the headlamp assembly out, but still....I'm glad it was just the turn signal.

that's a cool feature and a neat bit of info! Now if American's would just use the turn signal more that would be nice too. Think of the poor guy who's whole life career is to make the best turn signal in the world only to be ignored by rude people who choose to turn at will with no signalling.
So I'm assuming that I turn the signal to the left, the left side works, and the opposite for the right?
That's convenient even here in Key West as the roads were built for horses and push carts not cars.

I've actually used the "turn-signal-parking-light" here in the US... I had to park and leave my car for some time, on a dark street where people wouldn't expect a car to be. I was worried someone would just drive up and clip the left rear of my (black) car. It was reassuring to have this feature, so I took the opportunity to use it.
