this seems like a very good description of my impressions of the Cargraphics. 3-4k sounds nice - deep, throaty and somewhat aggressive, but it doesn't really build from there. It plateaus in the sound range around 4000 - everything above that seems to be in the same tone.

I hear you and totally agree. Throttle, RPM's and exhaust note should all be in synch in order to determine where the car is - even if you were driving with a blind fold.
exactly why you don't always have to look down at a tach or need a shift light on the track. i knew where my scca car was just on exhaust note. you learn it's tone. i like that in my street car too. "But officer, I was only at 5200 in 5th gear. I couldn't have been doing more than 120."

very good quality exhaust, but EXPENSIVE. i learned of akrapovic from my KTM and Ducati days. The big-bore SM guys love them - even expensive for the bikes. I'm running a Leo Vince on my KTM 690SM that I have in NC. thanks for the idea, though.

No problem just been listening to a lot of exhausts and that company seems to have the best exotic sound i think. Super expensive but i guess you pay for what you get. You have any idea on what your going with? I did the gundo amd its pretty decent well atleast better then stock.

i'm planning on making the leap to the Afterhours exhaust - having found one for sale. i started with gundo'd stock cans (both pypass pipes - like fister) and went to the Cargraphics. the Cargraphics are nice, but a bit civilized. ;-) i'm going to try the AHs and see how they are. eventually, i'll wind up with the sound i'm looking for. i've been through so many exhaust systems on several different marques over the years, that it's no big deal to keep looking and trying different systems - unless you can hear what you are interested in firsthand. very unlikely i'd find a 997S with X51 headers and 200 cell cats with the AH exhaust in the Dallas area. making the leap...

You'll love how it sounds. I've gone through several setups and my AH exhaust, 200 cell cats and headers is the best combination i've came up with.

Thank you for your feedback so far, I am curious how did you like the Cargraphic compared to the Gundo? I was set on the Gundo until I found used Cargraphic for close to the same price, to me it was a no brainer, but I am curious of your thoughts.

Thank you!!!

v35, the cargraphic is growing on me, but it's just a bit too subtle for me. if i find the AH too aggressive, i'll look for yet another option to try. thankfully, at this point, swapping them out is easy with the bracket bolts in upside down. you simply drop the mufflers.

carnut, the cargraphics certainly sounds very nice. it's got a mellow start up and idle, but opens up a bit above 3k rpm. 3-4k range is a nice, deep sound, but i wish the sound/tone would continue to climb beyond 5k. with my gundo'd stock cans, their was a different tone from 3-4k and 5-7k - it would gain a new pitch in the higher range. the cargraphic seems to reach a certain tone and stay there from 3k and up. i did have the dual bypass pipes on my gundo'd cans though, so that may have improved the overall sound. i'm sure the CGs are plenty loud enough for many and the deeper tone is preferred. it also has a nice, subtle pop on decel and downshifts.

another interesting comment on the cargraphic mufflers - my mileage has gone down from 16.5 to 16.3 in the week that i have had the mufflers on the car. clearly, i'm driving harder to hear the exhaust better. bottom line, a louder exhaust will also improve your MPG!!

sorry to keep posting to this thread, but i realized i really didn't answer your question as you asked it. i went into more detail on the CG when i should have talked about the gundo. i have the twin bypass gundo, but with a smaller diameter piping. start up is actually on the loud side compared to the CG - higher tone, as well. once it kicks down, it's a nice burble, but again higher pitched than the CG. The CG is nearly stock level at idle, the gundo is certainly louder, but not overly so. gundo really wakes up at 3k and sounds great to 4.5k. the CG sounds good at the same rev level, but is deeper and mellower and i'm in the gas more just to hear it more. the gundo is crisp and peakier. at 5k, the gundo changes pitch again and begins a mild wail and then the intake kicks in and adds to it all. the (my) gundo overall is crisper, higher pitched and louder than the CG. the CG is more of a bass tone, but still sounds very nice. for me, i just need the CG to be 1 or 2 steps louder and that may be what the AH sounds like. i'm just hoping that the AH isn't 3 or 4 steps higher. that might even be too much for me.

What exhaust would constantly have that hi pitched kinda cupcar sound 4-5 rpms like the gundo sounds at that rpm's.

i think if you're really looking for a true cup car sound, it would come from muffler bypass pipes. others may chime in with alternatives, but i think most of the freer-flowing mufflers - AH, Tubi, AP, etc. - give more of a deeper, bass tone. i'm hoping the AHs give a deep wail. we'll see.

i have Cargraphics also.. and i agree that its pitch is little deeper than i'd like (especially at lower rpm).. but i do enjoy it from 4-7k RPM

have u considered Innotech ? i realize u are trying to keep ur header and the cat.. but those can be sold just like ur mufflers.

Never heard it in person but it sounds pretty damn good in the videos...

also a good clip here (991 and 997)
