I meant to post this a couple of months ago...

Thanks for all your advice. I went and test drove an 09 base. Then found an 07 C2S. I had to go with the 07S. I gave up some obvious amenities with the newer PCM, and did not get direct inject engine. But what I got in return was awesome. I got the aero pkg, PASM and sport exhaust. The car is beautiful.

I am definitely going to miss the PCM 3 with Bluetooth. But I will find a way to add Bluetooth later. It is so much more civilized than my 996 was it is unbelievable. Nice choice for me.

Thanks for all your help and advice, though.

I had an 2008 Carrera Cabriolet (Tiptronic) and sold it to buy a 2009 C4S (PDK). I can't even begin to explain the difference from 2008 to 2009. You might find this link helpful. Definitely go with the 2009 base.

Actually, I like the wheels. They are a grey color and not as silver as they appear. Look nice in person.

Congrats! I think you made a terrific decision! And that's coming from a 997.2 S owner! I think the .1 S car would maybe be a little more lively and raw than a non-S .2. But, I've only driven the .2 S so I can't comment. I have however driven a few .1 S cars and they are a BLAST! Is that Switchcars you bought it at??

Also, I AM a fan of your wheels! ;-)

Yes. Got it at switchcars. They are selling my old C4S I traded right now. Kind of sad. I loved it.

Yes. Raw is a good description of the older ones.
The 996 was even more raw. This 997.1 if far more civilized than the 996. The newer 997/991 is a bit too civilized. They are quieter, softer, etc. I like to know there is a beast lurking.

That's funny... something about the garage pic told me it might be! I looked at number of nice cars there, online. But never was too sure how good a place they were. The name makes it sound a little "we finance anybody" but the guy I talked to was extremely knowledgeable about porsche, not pushy at all. Then read up on them and realized they were a very legit shop. Your experience was good?? They always have a lot of aero cars and unique rides in general!

The race shop that worked on my 996 was on that street. When I was looking for a 997, the owner told me switchcars was down the street. Had he not, I would never have known they were there. Very unassuming warehouse/office building.

Doug is the owner. Good guy, and seems to have nice inventory. I bought mine there. Straight shooter, and fair prices. I had a new clear bra applied as part of purchase. It was perfect also. He knew the right person to call.

My old 996 C4S is on their site now. But I think he sold it.
