'09 Base vs. '08 C2S

I am faced with a decision and need advice.
The cars have almost identical options. The cars have similar horsepower.
So the real decision is the S body and brakes vs. the newer electronics and creature comforts that comes from the 997.2

Please give me your opinion.

I'd go with the 09 base.

09 Base is what I would go with, but get a DME on both, maybe a PPI, that might make the decision for you.

had a .1S and just picked up a .2S - trust me, get the .2 base (find one with PASM if you can). The pcm in the .1 is a joke. .2 feels so much more "modern"

Faced with a similar decision in February, I bought an 09 base. There are several advantages of the 997.2 which may or may not be important to you, but they were to me. Mainly - DFI engine, no IMS, LED lighting and better PCM.

I've had both. The 09 .2 is the best choice without specifics on the vehicles.

Good luck,

Dave

no significance to S body on the 997s - both are NB. like others have said, go with the 997.2 for obvious reasons.

09 for sure. LED's alone are worth $2000 if you want to retrofit

I was in the same situation. I waited until the '09 S's came down in price to get one. Too many improvements to ignore between the '08 and '09.

Also, after some city driving today (Just got the car yesterday - took a 200+ mile highway trip to get home) you can very easily feel how much faster the DFI in the 09 revs up. It feels so much more responsive compared to the prev generation. That PDK is real magic too.

I was in same situation 18mo ago, got a .2 C2, after driving a .1s and .2 base. The .2 felt like a better car. Never regretted it.

Until I decided I "had to have a gt3rs" after the porsche bug bit hard, now both are sitting in my garage.

Thanks everyone. I am actually floored at the unanimous opinion.
Now let me throw in that I drive and instruct.
Does this change anyone's opinion?

Checkout the brake specs, I think the .2 S has 6 pot calipers in front, but I believe the rotors are the same diameter on the .2s and .2 base. .2 base has upgraded brakes, I 'believe' about on par with the .1s. S has PASM too.
