So I posted the same question on Bimmerpost and got a lot of mixed responses. The real honest responses were similar to those here, if you dont need the extra room then go with the Porsche!! If you need a back seat and usability then buy the M3. I agree with both.

So now lets redirect this thread a little bit. Lets assume I pick up a nice .1C2S, what mods should I get to make the car a little more track ready but still very livable when driving around town? And how much would I need to spend. I was thinking a set of springs, sways, 18" track wheels with stick rubber, exhaust just because, track pads and maybe a tune. Am I missing anything?

Thanks again for your help!!!
.

You might want GT3 front LCA too.

These cars are very expensive to do that stuff with, though I am guessing you already know that. I would expect at least 3k for decent track wheels and another 1500 for rubber. Springs and sways would be another 3k perhaps. And the same for a good exhaust. There is little to nothing to tune on them as they are rather strung out as is so I wouldnt spend the money as long as you get an S as they are nicer than the base line.
