installing fabspeed cai questions

I recently purchased a fabspeed cai. tonight while attempting to install I bumped into an unknown situation. upon lifting the airbox I identified the air flow sensor as well as what appears to be a link cable and also some vaccuum lines. not sure what to do. I took a pic. ... its not the best but you can see what I'm talking about. does anyone know what I do lol?
car is a 2007 Porsche 911 c4s

thanks

If it is really that dusty, are you sure you want to run an aftermarket air filter?

I agree with not having a cai with dirt conditions like that.

I made it sound worse than it is. windy in saskatchewan and until they get the road sweepers out its like blowing dust some days. id say they have 90% of moose jaw done now.

If its so dusty out there you will be one of those sweepers with the CAI sucking in the ooo sooo fresh dust! Keep your stock box

I am really curious why people think that the stock air box is any better with regard to dust. If there is dust in the air, don't you think it will be sucked into the air box the same way? If you drive on dirt roads maybe a small amount of dust would enter from the bottom but I don't see this being very significant.

The description for these intakes is a lousy one (Cold Air Intake) but I don't really see any difference with regard to dust. It is debatable whether the air that is pulling into the engine is warmer, i.e. when at very low speeds or stopped, but the dust is the same. If it is in the air then it will get pulled in and, hopefully, stopped by the filter element.

If you like the stock air box, I am not trying to convince you to put something else on the car -- just saying!

Intresting. So you think the same amount of crap gets sucked into the factory box as to the cold air intake (exposed cone)? I thought the cone would be a lot worse.

OP

I have same car with same CAI. I will look for my end result pics and you can see what to do. Did you get the carbon CAI or just that orange hose?

Why? In my opinion, almost all of the air will enter thru the deck lid and be pulled into the intake. I don't understand why people think it would be a lot worse.

Looking at the two air boxes one can see why the exposed cone would "see" more dust. There is more air space open to breath in the dust. The factory box will only allow dust through the deck lid, because its sealed from the engine bay.

If I had that much dust..I would stay with factory box.

Thats what i think. From what i heard the box gives better power then (if any) then the cone. Idk i rather have the box with a bmc
