Aftermarket Bluetooth Options for 06 997?

As the title states, what are some options for bluetooth? I have the PCM2 as of right now, but don't have the telephone. Thanks in advance!

NavTV or Denison
Or replace PCM.

Thanks SecretAsianMan. Have any experience with either NavTV or Denison?

Installed a Navtv Tooki in 05 cab 2s. Works fine for phone only...no streaming music from iphone into the pcm. Cost me over $800. Kinda wish I had just replaced oem pcm/nav with a new Pioneer or Alpine head unit. That would have cost approx $2000 (including prof install) and would have given me full smart phone integration, nav and rear camera. I could have gotten a good chunk of that back by selling the cpm/nav unit/nav discs on ebay. Would have cost about the same as Tooki and been much cooler. Live and learn.

+1 to what martyschu said

The NavTv works, but the interface is as bad as PCM ever was. Voice dialing doesn't work.

This is a topic you'll get a wide and varied set of advice.

For what it's worth I have had both the Dension and Mobridge units fitted to my 07 Targa 4S.

The Dension is cheaper but bluetooth signal is weaker and mine had a failure and nearly caught fire in the car!

The Mobridge unit is far superior and is very good quality. Cost a lot more but most quality items do.

IMO, if you're not into modifying and want to keep the originality of the car with its OEM PCM unit.....get the Mobridge unit.

Whoa - never heard of a bluetooth Dension catching fire. That would be odd. Houddub was this the old BTA or a 500SBT? If it failed, it would be replaced under warranty (assuming first year). Did you contact your reseller? It has no internal power source, so catching fire would be pretty hard.

The newest Dension (500SBT) has fifth generation bluetooth built in now, so it's not an add on module. Dension has also been hard at work revising firmware (easy to update unit, unlike some other products) and we're beta testing version 0050 now (started last summer with 0043). This helps to add features or resolve some issues a few folks have experienced, but otherwise the units work as advertised.

The 500SBT provides direct-to-the-loop ipod, usb, aux and bluetooth integration, allowing streaming audio (Pandora, iTunes, etc) and phone calls through the PCM system.

Feel free to email me with any other questions. I won't 'bash' any other products though we have sold them and know a good bit about them. One key point: Dension is an R&D company, they worked alongside Porsche for over two years in the development of MOST bus technology during the production of the first gen Cayenne. They do not take other companies' products and package them as their own - they develop what they sell.

In addition, as Dension's primary distributor for this line for Porsche, we have a lot of experience with the company and product, and we have a direct relationship with their engineering folks. Anytime we can't resolve any issue, we can get it in front of the right people very quickly.

Sure, these are delicate systems with some quirks - they all have this - as your are dealing with vehicle electronics and fiber optics. But for the majority, the Dension is far better than anything on the market, offers more features for the money, and is an in-house developed product from this manufacturer.

eric@bumperplugs.com w/any questions.

CWL I replaced the PCM on my 08 C4S Cab with a Pioneer Nav with backup cam and never looked back. Bluetooth works great Nav and sirius radio too. Was a bit pricy but to me worth it, I use my car every day. If it was a weekend toy I would have left it. There are allot of choices out there pick one that fits your budget and lifestyle. Good luck.

Eric (and others), what are the typical installation cost and do you know of anybody would could do the install in or around White Plains NY?

I heard some people doing their DIY install, but I am not familiar with Porsche wiring and like to hear from you if it is doable with no prior experience.

I have a 2008 C2.

We've got a short list of a few installers, not all in a specific area near you, but email me when you're ready.

Searching for Bluetooth solution myself. With the Dension 500SBT Bluetooth feature, would I be able to stream music from Pandora and the likes from my iPhone? Also, if I'm using GPS Nav on my iPhone, would I be able to hear the turn by turn directions from the car speakers?
