Purchasing new shoes...

I would like to replace the Lobster's on my 2008 C2S. I don't want to throw down $5K+ for forged wheels, so looking for a lightweight cast. It looks like Forgestar F14 is lightweight and the Avant Garde M510 has nice profile on the 997. Any 997 owners have experience with either of these? Or are there any out there you would suggest? I once bought a set of carrera classic replicas for a Boxster S, but it felt like the car lost quite a bit of acceleration with them. Thus, I am worried the same thing could be the case with my 997... it's hard to beat the low weight of cast OEM Lobster's.

I've been very happy with OZ over the years on other cars. Hard to beat for light weight, quality, and price. See the Ultraleggera and Superforgiata types.

I have F14s they are very nice looking and riding. Not sure on the weight as compared to lobsters but I do run my lobsters on my snow's. the beauty of the Forgestars over the Avante garde is the fact that they fit the factory lug nuts.

Buy used and you can get Forged. I have 2 factory sets, but have been tempted to sell one and buy a Forged set. We will see.

Go with Oz, if the style fancies you. Great company and very well made product, in my experience. Light wheels as well!

Try to find a used set in the classifieds. OZ are nice and so are Forgestars, I believe both are lighter than the lobsters.

just be sure to do your due diligence.

i purchased my HRE C90 from a member here. It was used but in a mint condition.

brand new - $1600 a piece = $6400 + tires

i got it for $2800 with PS2 tires that had plenty tread left.

After selling my Carrera S wheels, i only spent $800 for HRE upgrade.

and i lost ton of unsprung weight..
