Starting research on 997S add

I own a 996 and starting my research to what 997 to buy in the future. I was mostly looking at an S. I prefer higher mileage cars, so thinking gen 1 S may be the target? I am not sure the extra 30bhp for gen 2 is worth the premium? I'm gonna get a ticket on the california autobahn sometime soon anyways. So, what say you?

91' white 964 C2 Cab (gone but not forgotten), 2006 X3 duck mobile, 1998 528i family team beater, and 2 labradors from hell.

gen 2 has more than just a 30hp bump... many updates. Either the 997.1 or 997.2 are both good cars. What your budget is may determine which one you search for.
This topic has lots of posts and a search would help you out a lot. WELCOME!

the main reason i'd go for the 997.2 is for the updated electronics. the newer engines are a plus. personally.... I would go for a 997.2 non-s over a 997.1 S if the price wad the same.

thanks for the input! when I have my car buyer find me the car, price wont be the issue. I wont buy a low mileage car, I like mid mileage cars and what might be deemed here on these threads as high mileage. I really like my 996 over my 964, I am just going to target the exact car I want in a year or two. I am partial to the shifter but is the PDK car worth parting from the manual?

PDK is addictive! I used to be a die hard manual guy until I test drove the PDK. What do you consider mid mileage?
