Local dealer slams EVOMS
Local (salesguy) slams EVOMS
Had a chat with my sales guy who is very nice and pretty well educated to all things Porsche. I complained about the lack of info on the X51 and said I would probably opt for some goodies from EVO at which point he tore into our friends at EVO stating that he and several other sales and technicians had driven a specific AS/Blue S coupe (that was traded on an SY cab) with the EVO ECU/Intake/Exhaust package that they offer for 6-7K and all of them came away saying the car was no faster than a standard S and that anyone who would buy this stuff is taking it in the you know where.
I have met Todd and others at EVO, I have seen dynos, I have heard his cars and seen his producs and have no reason to doubt the veracity of their claims. Certainly the quality of the products I have seen from their shop are very good, in fact better than some of the componentry that escapes the production facilities at Stuttgart.
I'm ranting because all this BS and veiled threats of denied warranty claims really make me feel uncomfortable about buying a car from this dealer and worse yet, they are the only local dealer and I fear the near certain backlash if I were to purchase the car outside of my metro area.
I visit the dealership probably once per month to see color combos to help me with my ordering decision, but these visits are ending negatively. I want this to be fun and a win win for me and the dealer. I am unhappy with how things are progressing as nitpicky as it may be, for 90K and change, as the customer, I don't care if I want a pink car or a jet engine strapped to the roof, just laugh and say whatever you want sir. Am I crazy?

This sales guy is obviously trying to force you into buying the X51 package... I understand that he wants to make a bigger sale, but talking garbage about EVOMS is just ridiculous and unacceptable. You doesn't care about how happy you are with you car, he cares about making more money... He's a selfish jerk with a bullsh*t opinion.
If he tries telling you what to get in your car, next time you go there, ask for a different sales rep... If they can't help you, take your business elsewhere.
Just my 2 cents.

Shhhhhhh don't tell my boss

I don't care that they are the only local dealer, I mean look at what they are saying, how there making you feel, and most importantly how they are treating you. Sometimes if you want the right service or people you must go that extra mile.
Also your not being nit picky about spending 90k, thats not chump change to most. Your right if you want it a certain way then they should whatever is in their power to make it so.

I am a PHX local also. I have the same mods you are referring to on a non S car. Ask Chris at the dealership about my 997. I have had in for service and he was blown away. Good luck, so far so good with the dealership.
Aren't the powerkits usually about $12,000 (Turbo X50 was about $18,000), not $8,000. And that doesn't include the PSE.

Finally a good move by Porsche...

That is interesting about the dealer? We have done many cars for them and they seem to like our products. If you could pm me and let me what your salesmens name is, I would like to contact him to see why he would say that... The reason the 997s was traded in for the cab is because his wife wanted a cab. He drove it here right after he purchased it, and had Stage 4 installed on it as well.. Dealers?....
Mike, I saw and heard that car, it sounded awesome. I was taken aback by the salesmans' comments. I found it very odd that he had such a negative view of the package and that he would try to steer me away from it and throwing in that his opinion was not the only one. I know from talking to you and Todd that you have both said that you have a working relationship and that they actually sell your products.
My point was, even though I don't hang out with you guys, you have been providing information both on your products and the cars you have been working on which is helping me in my purchase decision and his comments were in effect directed at my "friends" at EVO. If you insult my firends, that is not doing anything for your credibility and possibly jeopardizing his paycheck. I will PM you his name but I want to let him know first that I was unhappy with his comments.
