I agree that;s just a sales pitch, so like him I would probably slam any aftermarket parts to get you to buy the X51

Fanman is infamous around these parts

I have heard the X51 for the 997S is going to be around $8K. It does for sure include PSE (and the Carbon Fiber Airbox)... This is the first time it has included the new exhaust (and the exhaust comes with new stainless tips as well), and new airbox to go with the added performance. So now you have what the X51 used to be (peformance) with the addition of a switchable exhaust that includes tips and a carbon fiber airbox for the same price or less...
Finally a good move by Porsche...
Evan
If that is true than it makes it a much better deal as the PSE used to be several thousands of $ option by itself. The last kit didn't include this. If it is $8,000, while still expensive, is not as bad as $12,000 on the last one, and not even a modified (sound) exhaust. Sounds interesting. Hope it is true.

I am aware of several Porsche dealers who OFFER the Evo package directly.

I e-mailed a note to the salesperson. I hope he will realize that he pinched a nerve with me and will see if I can't get to the core of his issue with EVO. He has been with these guys for a very long time, 10 years which is an eternity for car sales.

I don't know where the 8,000 figure came from, from all the european order guides I believe we came up with 12k being the price for the US. 8,000 would be far more reasonable but I don't think that is happening.
