Question Clunking noise in the rear....strut?

Hey guys,

I'm hearing this clunking noise when going over some bumps. Took it to an independent shop who told me they believe it's the rear strut. In other cars, once the strut is blown, they've never made noise, so I'm a bit confused.

It's a base 2005 997 Carrera, all stock, with 45k miles. Any input or thoughts are appreciated!

Thanks,
- Zishan

I know this isn't going to help, but, I hear the same clunking noise on my 2008 CS2 at the right rear when I go over not good to bad condition roads. Does the shocks go bad on CS2 this soon, or is this normal?
