Need advice regarding spacers

Guys,

I bought a set of spacers for my 997.1 from a vendor with a very good reputation, who went out of his way to get them to me quickly.

However, when I went to put them on, I saw that with the security screw in place, the lugs holes did not line up. I wasn't sure whether the security screw was that important so I stopped the installation and queried the vendor. His response:

"The safety screw as you call it is simply a retaining bolt meaning when you pull out the wheel it wont fall off it has noting to do with safety once the wheel is sandwiched with the lug bolts that spacer will never come off, align the wheel bolts hole with the spacer, unfortunately regardless of the Porsche spacer you buy the retaining screw will not always line up sometimes there is no threaded screw for the retaining screw…"

What say you in your collective wisdom, use the spacers or not?

Screw isn't necessary. Lug bolts more than enough to hold wheel and spacer on - just make sure you have the right length lug bolts.

Agree, you don't really need the screw. However, I don't recall any sets that I have used that didn't line up with the retaining screw.

I had some 7mm ones where the holes didn't line up - cant remember the source tho.
