First Porsche, first 997, woohoo!
One fine automobile. You will love it now. You will love it later. If you get rid of it you will want it back.
I just got a 2006 C4S w/X51pak, 32k miles 10 days ago. Hot Damn! I had a 1976 911S Targa Turbo-look (grey market) back in the mid-80's, loved it, drove it til I blew the engine. SWORE I would get another one someday. Going from a 2.7L to 3.8L? I am dumbfounded. The improvements in 30 model years are UNBELIEVABLE! I smile all the time!

A few other things about it: when I called the dealership about it, they'd only had it in stock for a day and hadn't even finished the CPO checklist. They did the IMS, RMS, replaced all four tires, and did the 4 year service, so in conjunction with the CPO warranty I've got to say I'm feeling pretty good about this girl.

Give me a yell when you're down here. I've got some friends who own a bar downtown, we'll have to meet up for some drinks and Porsche talk.
Considering the dealer-cost price tag of it was over $3600, yes, I'd assume that included tearing down the engine to replace the bearing, unless y'all think that's reasonable dealer cost to replace a seal.

Nope, it's definitely silver. Specifically, GT Silver Metallic (paint code LM7Z, according to the sticker in the owner's manual). Love this color!
As a side note, the VA FINALLY (after 2 years of waiting) got me my disability rating, so I went in to get my disabled vet plates today. I was going to get DV*997S or 997S*DV, but BOTH of them were taken. So, I tried for DV*911S and 911S*DV, but both THOSE were taken. Apparently, I'm not the only disabled vet in Texas who likes Porsches. LOL So, when I was in the Army I created a series of comics titled "BOB on the FOB" (if you get a chance, check out the facebook page for it: www.facebook.com/bobonthefobcomics), which is often discussed with the acronym BotF, so I got BOTF*DV. Woohoo! (the *, by the way, in Texas, is a state outline of Texas).

GT Silver is beautiful. I guess that is why I thought it might be Meteor Gray because it is definitely darker than Artic Silver.
Could be, but I am surprised that a Porsche dealer would tear down an engine on a CPO car to put in a non OEM IMS bearing.
Please do. If the original one had failed, the engine most likely suffered damage unless somehow the previous owner or the dealer had some reason to suspect it was failing and replaced it before complete failure. I think it is pretty rare for one of the newer design bearings to fail.
