Son on the way....question.

In a couple months I will be a father for the first time. I had a brainstorm the other day that I should indoctrinate my son into loving cars and more specifically, Porsches, at a young age.

My hope was to find a battery powered Porsche 911 ride-on car. A pedal car would be OK only if no battery powered existed.

Obviously, the most ideal solution would be a 997 in white, like his Dad's.

Anyone know of a good place to look?

Thanks!

Suncoast has some pedal cars, didn't see a white 997 like your car.

In my experience, children are more profoundly influenced by what they see their parents doing and driving than any overpriced toys. Spending time with your son, in your car, washing your car, working on your car, making models of cars, racing RC cars, will go a lot further. Not only will you save money, but your son will turn out much more self-sufficient with respect to all cars. Just be prepared for the request to borrow your car on prom night or some such occasion. Meanwhile, I think Porsche makes a pedal car for only $900 (http://shop4.porsche.com/usa/kids/to...pedal-car.pdds).

My son is now 3.5 years old, I've never once promoted the idea of liking cars to him. Monkey see monkey do. He has about 600 hot wheels and various other RC trucks and cars. He calls my 997tt "the race car", and my H2 "daddy's bus".

Congrats to you and good luck!

Cover the walls with Porsche wallpaper in his room, buy him loads of Porsche onesys, get him a Porsche pacifier and Porsche bottles. When he gets a little older, show him all the pictures from his baby days.

And congratulations

PS: Be prepared for him to desire a Ford Shelby Cobra instead of a Porsche

I did the same thing with my little boy.
He had the baby Boxster push car first and then the 911 pedal car. He loves that thing more than his Bike. He's 5 now.

Congrats!

My son is 10. He has the love of cars through my love of cars.
Share your experiences with him. Take him for rides with you. Do a special dad/child (boy or girl) day or trip.
A small run to the ice cream store, library, local coffee shop. Whatevere he or she knows that you enjoy.
Make it a special time and it will be a special time.
Congrats.

BTW, my son already asked if he will "inherit" my car!

+1.

My son picked up the passion when he became a teenager. He inherited/drives my 911SC.

p.s.,
Before I exposed him to cars (and since I also wanted to have grandchildren and the blood line to continue), I made sure that he developed the passion for girls first!

I took my son to the dealership to look at colors for his room. He decided on gt3rs orange from the 997.1... We had that swatch matched at Home Depot and then decked out his room in porsche posters that we found online.

my son is 6 now, we were riding home the other day and he says "Look daddy! it's a GTR!!" I had no idea he even knew what a GTR was. He sees my appreciation of all cars, and he and I both go nuts over my Porsche, just like my dad and I when I was little. I love them all, just like him...and even though he had muscle cars at my age, he had a special place for Porsches...now that we both have them...they are even more special...cannot wait for the day I hopefully get to see my own son driving his. But if he gets a GTR I won't be disappointed either.

congratulations, having a son is just plain awesome man.
