I was all set to purchase a 2013 C2S and my wife put the brakes on the deal. She said I have spent too much money on cars in the last 10 years and she cut my budget. I am now looking at a 2011 C2S. I absolutely love the new 911 from the drive of it to the interior appointments. For those of you who know both cars well... What is your opinion will I never be satisfied with a 997? This will be a daily driver for me.
I traded in a Panamera 4s about 6 months ago for a Mercedes GL 450 because we needed a larger car for rug rats. So now I am driving the "truck".
I guess it is funny. Can you hear the whip being cracked?

Hang in there! Let's the few of us think you would be a good husband and a father.
btw,
As soon as I became single, I bought 3 Porsches, 2 sportsbikes, rifles, handguns, etc.

I am not qualified to answer since I have not owned a 991. Breaking the rule of "Buy the latest Porsche your budget could afford", I always remember a sports-bike professional who said....
"Do you really need a 1,000cc Yamaha R1? Most riders could never fully utilize the power of a 600cc R6; have you? If you have not, why bother with the higher end model?"
Just fyi.

If you already got your heart on the 991, but buy the 997, you will probably continuously think about that it's not a 991 and "feel" it lacking.
I went thru the same thing between the 997 vs 996. At the end I bought a Hermes for my wife first, followed by the 997 a few days later and told her that the I will save about 20% on fuel than my BMW X5... so possibly a Chanel for her very soon!!!

2) I have driven the 991, but only on a solo test drive. Depending on what you want from a car, the 997 might be a better choice. It's less cushy and feels more raw so if you want to feel like you are going faster (even though you are not) it is a better choice. As for the interior, yes the 997 interior is a little old, but there is something very classic about its simplicity. The new 991 interior is very nice, but something is off. It's very modern and sculpted, but I don't see it feeling classic someday.
3) Who says this has to be your last 911. Think of it as your current Porsche. You can always get the 997 and trade up to the 991 later when prices come down. I personally do not like purchasing new sports cars (even though I could afford it), only to have them depreciate like mad the first 2-3 years. I prefer to let someone else take that hit.
4) As for never being satisfied with a 997, for me I'm having the opposite problem. I'm not sure I could ever be completely satisfied with the 991. It's a brilliant car, but for me I find myself longing for something different.
if you want a more refined daily driver GT experience, little more cushy, not as good steering feel, little quicker, little bigger, get the 991. I prefer the 997 but I have not yet driven the new gt3, obviously.
The 991 used prices have been dropping like a rock. 1 yr old cars selling for ~20-30k off original MSRP with low miles.

I have no frame of reference for my wife cutting my budget....interesting concept though just not my cup of tea!
I like the 997 about a kazillion times more than the 991 so in some perverse way, for this one time, that control happened to work.
