Sport Mode software
Sport Mode software
I had the retrofit installed and it makes a world of difference in the cars performance, use sport mode almost all the time. But today for the first I tried out launch control, selected sport plus mode the engine reved to about 6500 RPM's but the launch control indicator never illuminated. How long before you get the launch control indication? Has anyone with the retrofit experinced the same indications. I am going to consult with the dealer.
You need to select Sport Plus, press firmly on the brake and them push accelerator to the floor making sure to hit the kick down portion of the gas pedal. Then release the brake quickly and off u go!
Search youtube for "Porsche 997 Mark II Launch Control" and you will find the instruction video.

I also had the Sport Mode software retrofit for my 2009 C4S and could not get Launch Control to work the first time. However, if you follow these steps, you will be good to go:
1. Deactivate the stability control by pressing the PSM button on the dash
2. Engage "Sport Plus" mode by pressing the dash mounted button
3. Push the brake pedal with your left foot
4. Floor the accelerator with your right foot. Even though the pedal is floored, the engine's computer will not let the engine hit the redline. Instead the computer selects the ideal engine speed for the swiftest launch - in this case, it will settle around 6600 rpm. Get it right and "Launch Control Active" will appear in the onboard computer display (you must just floor it and not slowly hit the gas, which was my mistake).
5. Release the brake and hold tight. Upshifts happen automatically as long as the pedal is to the floor.
Enjoy! This ride alone is worth the cost of admission.
