Hmmm, a sort of Sport Chrono retro . . . sort of.

BTW, I was at the world famous SunCoast dealership last week . . . totally by accident. I was traveling for work and we wound up at my boss's house in Sarasota, FL waiting out Hurricane Earl. It was a nice dealership to visit and the R8 on the Audi floor next door is SICK!!! Beautiful car.

Very cool. This should also help the resale value of cars purchased sans sport mode as it can now be added any time and nobody cares about the dash wart anyway.

Very interesting. Worth it? Not so sure. Would have been cheaper to get Sport Chrono from the factory and you get the dash wart as an extra! One would need to compare the cost of this with a Softronic tune, which would actually be cheaper or about the same price.

Will this affect the warranty on a new car? I have a 2011 997.2 3.6L w/out sport chrono and would like to add the package. I do not want to risk my warranty on a new car however. What kind of ball park labor do you guys usually charge on this at Suncoast?

On an older car this might not make sense over an ECU tune but if it keeps my factory warranty and allows the launch mode/on off sport feature it is well worth it in my opinon.

Ryan, does this mean I can have launch control with a PDK non sport Carrera 4? Would this void the warranty or cause any issues when returning the car back for a lease?

Glad you stopped in! Yes that Audi next door is a sweet piece of machinery.

Yes you can have launch control on your pdk car. And, no it will not void any warranty or cause any issues when returning the car for a lease. It is all genuine Porsche parts, no funny business!

Ryan I just spoke with Mike over there and he said I had to have PCM on the car to install it. I have the PCM but I don't really know if he meant PSM instead? When we spoke I assumed PCM meant PSM but after I hung up I realized my mistake. Would you confirm for me. This retrofit is so new I don't mind being a test bunny but I would rather know 100% it will work in my car. It is a 2011 PDK 997 w/out PSM.

Ryan, the listing says software only, does that mean we have to purchase the buttons also? How much are those? Sport and Sport Plus, this will work on nonPASM cars also right?

Bottom of the description says "Includes software and a new dash switch, installation guide is included."

Either way, PCM or PSM it does not matter and will fit on your car.

So if you do not have the option it will still work, obviously you would not be able to take advantage of the the all the perks that are included with PSM.

- Vehicles with the optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) also switches to Sport mode for harder damping and more direct steering, and, therefore, better road holding.

- For vehicles with PCM, new personalized settings can now be controlled. Including memory for lights, wiper, climate control, & door lock settings.

exactly it just says a switch, are their switches? it makes no sense to get the sport suspension button if you have no PASM...

We must get your vin number in order to 1. get the activation code ready for installation and 2. to make sure we supply the correct switch for your specific car.

Sport Chrono on a 997.2 S only adds the ability to adjust some settings in the computer - so what does this add?

"When the Sport button on the center console is selected, the engine management system enhances the engine response. A modified throttle map relates the pedal angle in the footwell to a much wider angle of opening on the throttle valve. Throttle response is significantly more immediate, and, in the higher gears, a hard rev-limiter helps protect the engine under acceleration."

The sport button already does this.

"Vehicles with the optional Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) also switches to Sport mode for harder damping and more direct steering, and, therefore, better road holding. For maximum dexterity, PSM can be set to standby while the car is still in Sport mode. For safety, it is set to intervene automatically only when ABS assistance is required on both the front wheels."

The sport button already does this too.

"- For vehicles with PCM, new personalized settings can now be controlled. Including memory for lights, wiper, climate control, & door lock settings."

This is the only thing I could find that is not included by default on all 997.2 S models. $895 to set some settings my dealer will set for me for free? I'm confused.

It is a retrofit for cars without sport mode already on the vehicle. If your car came with it as an option then there is no need to purchase this kit...
