Still waiting

It will be 4 weeks on monday since I ordered my "sports Retrofit". Anyone else having this problem? Is my dealer the problem or are others still waiting?

Seems like a software upgrade and a couple of dash switches shouldn't be that difficult.

I just got mine last week after about a 4 week wait. Had it installed and picked her up on Friday.

Have not put much time in her since, but I definitely see the sport mode difference.

I did try the launch control yesterday. All I can say is ... WOW...

I did take note that my dealer "rounded up" the time units to install from the Porsche referenced 1.1 units to 1.5!! This is a brand new P-car dealer and I mentioned the 1.1 both before and after the install. I even had some additional work done so I thought they would recalculate the labor down - no such luck .

Some people put up with the wart only to get SC - now there's a way to have a clean dash; "SC sans C"...the other side of the coin.

Mine took 1 week. SC is a must have the dash wart isn't. That having been said I personally don't mind the wart.

Do they have the switch?

Don't know. The Parts manager just said the order hasn't shipped from Germany yet. Maybe the switches/bezels are in short supply and holding things up? Trying to be patient!

When I checked on my order about a week or so ago - the dealer said the same thing. Then they did another "search" and said there were 2 kits in Ottawa. They revised the status on my order and said the "customers car" was in their garage waiting on this part - this enabled overnight delivery from Ottawa.

They received it in a day and a half from then.

Maybe your dealer can try the same - locate another kit on this side of the pond.

Sport Switch and PSE retrofit quesiton

If you have the sport switch installed on a carrera that came with neither sport chrono or PSE, I wonder if having the switch reduces some of the install time quoted for retrofitting PSE?

I've heard 7-8 hours for PSE with the button, and 2 hours without the button. So if the sport button is already there? I wonder how much time, if any, that would take out of a subsequent PSE retrofit (which uses the sport button were discussing)?

When you buy this "kit," you're actually buying a software key and a dash switch. Once ordered, the dealer sends the order information to Porsche, and they assign it to the vehicle's VIN number. The only piece which is actually installed is the dash switch, so that should be the only piece delaying the order. If they have the switch already, they can have the codes added in 24 hours.

Hence the reason why Suncoast did my install. They know their stuff and they happen to be close by. The sport retrofit really woke my car up from its sedate character. I drive now with the sport button active on the highway and turn it off in the city primarily due to the hard 2-1 rolling downshift in sport mode. I recognize the reasoning for it but almost wish Porsche had given us Sport mode throttle and shift maps as standard with a soft 2-1 downshift, an economy switch (the regular non-sport mode), and Sport Plus with all the hard shifts and redline for fun.

The kit doesn't add sport chrono or a timer. Not sure if that's possible, I've never tried that upgrade.

Does a Porsche dealer have to install this?? I have a Indy guy that just deals with Porsches and knows his stuff. Just wondering his Labor Rate is $50 a hour cheaper.
