The only downfall of the Maser is that it does not hold it's value as well as the Porsche, but than again the Porsche has dropped in value alot in the last few years.

Perhaps the 997 is slightly quicker, however the Maser has a superior finish. The point is they are both exceptional cars.

I doubt if there is a Maserati dealership in Chandler, Arizona so you probably haven't seen a newer Maserati. Interior and paint are absolutely first class, period. Accleration from 40-110 thru the F1 shifter is exceptional.
Christian I appreciate your ability to recognize style, class and performance in anything other than a Porsche. Some others can't.

Unlike others I do not buy a car because of the logo on the hood, I buy them because I love the experience. It's sad to see that there are so many folks on here that act like the guys at Lambo-Power, if it's not what they drive than it is junk and not worthy of them. Total BS.

MY wife and I have owned 5 911s and two Boxsters. All were great cars. I had two favorites. A slant nose 92 Cabriolet that was awesome and a 2001 twin turbo. I appreciated the engineering in all my Porsche autos and the unquestioned quality of the car in general. I have built and rebuilt numerous cars in my life in cluding an AC Cobra and a 427 Pantera that ran the quarter in the high 11s.
We presently have a 2005 MB and an old 87 Corvette convertible that is the best everyday driving car of the bunch.
Automobiles have always been my first love.

There is some comedy. The reason they hold there value so poorly is immediately evident when and if one can locate a used specimen to examine. Ferrari is equally as culpable here. Up until the late 90's the quality of their paint and interiors sucked. I still think that plaque on the steering column is hideous.

And yes I have seen the new Maseratis. I like the the spider, they sound fantastic and I know the MM gearbox is pretty decent though I haven't driven one personally. However, being around highline cars for a long time its not hard to remember that the guys in Italy have struggled to put a good package together. The Fiat group as a whole. And though I do agree they are much better, superior is out of the question.I'm not a brand ***** either, but part of the appeal of owning a performance car is the integrity and build quality. I had Vette, (C5 Roadster) that was a great car and fun experience, not the best built car but still fun and a couple of older Porsches one of which was so problematic I got rid of it, but a great track car the few times I ran it.
My point is that when I first became able to buy a Ferrari in the early nineties, I went and drove a few and simply did not understand what the hype was about. They were shoddily built with underwhelming performance. The only redeeming quality is they looked and sounded cool. To this day I still remember it and still never give owning a Ferrari much thought. I don't think the Maserati is as crappy as it was before, but personally I'd upgrade to a newer Vette before I bought one.
