Hey guys,

I want badly to paint my seatbacks Meteor Gray, I think it would look killer plus mine are really beat up.
My question is, has anyone heard of using a wrap for this application? Does wrap even stick to plastic? Could it lie down in those grooves?
Wrap might be much easier because you wouldn't have to remove the seatbacks from the seats.
I was thinking carbon fiber wrap could be cool...

Thoughts?

 

I got a quote from a local auto-trimmer to cover the plastic seat backs in matching leather as mine are scratched up as well. For around $500 they'd cover both seat-backs.

Hi guys, no I haven't done it yet. I decided that the wrap is the best option I just haven't gotten around to it. Now you've got me thinking again….

I had the 997 Adaptive seat backs CF wrapped in my 928 Spyder. Turned out great and in a cab they're so visible, well worth the trouble. I had them done outside the car before installing them, which would probably be a lot easier and turn out better than trying to do them in the car.

 

Hmmm... never thought about wrapping the seat back. Great idea.

How hard is it to remove the seats?

 

Not hard, just 2 or 4 bolts per seat and a couple multi-pin connectors. Disconnect the battery first to prevent getting an airbag error light. Also pad your doorsill well, as it's tough to get the seat out without resting it on the sill a bit. In a cab it's much easier - just put the top down before you disconnect the battery.
