I purchased the front bumper from another board member about 2 years ago and he couldn't remember who made it, so I am not sure what brand it is.

Looks great. I was thinking of doing that to my stock lobster wheels. What kind of lowering springs do you have? Perfect height.

Not a big fan of black wheels on black cars, but the gun metal touch made the wheels pop out. I'd like to try it on my basalt black 997.1. Did you have to remove the tires from the rims? Mind listing the paint color codes? I understand it is easy to remove the plasti dip, in case it didn't turn out the way you expected.

I didn't remove the tires from the rims, but I did remove the wheels and tires from the car and used index cards to avoid getting plasti-dip on the tires. I used 3 coats of black plasti-dip followed by 3 coats of plasti-dip silver metallizer. You can only order the metallizer from dipyourcar.com.

just dipped my wheels this weekend - anthracite grey with a couple coats of glossifier. I didn't remove the wheels from the car, just covered the rotors with plastic and masked the lugs. Turned out pretty good... my wheels (see last pic) are shiny black Techart forged 20's with a painted yellow stripe on the edges. Not everyone's cup of tea but the nice thing about Plastidip is I could change it easily and go back to the original colour just by peeling the stuff off whenever I want. Or change the colour again... might do gold next!

I also dipped my rear 911 badge the same grey. And I don't have a hood crest but sprayed one monochromatic grey and stuck it on with masking tape just to see what it would look like. Not sure I like it with my exposed carbon stripes... still deciding on that one.

Subscribed! Some amazing results on those wheels. I want to see a bit of a diy! Do you just spray the stuff on? How durable is it? I mean with wheels they get dirty and need to be cleaned. I'm thinking about going all black for the winter.

The car is lowered about 1.2" on Eibach Springs.

do it!! I did mine in Anthracite Grey Metallic with 2 coats of gloss plus H&R Drop!

Nice job Forsa!!! I like them a lot! Pretty much the same finish as mine. Let us know if you do the Vintage Gold! A friend of mine did his black VW CC with custom wheels in VG - lemme see if I can find some pics!

That's awesome. I'd like to do my stock turbo wheels. What is the best source for materials? I already have the wheels off the car, so it seems that it would be pretty easy. If you spray it on, does it get runny?

Romysc4s - those are not stick on stripes... my hood is all carbon fiber painted black but with the two stripes exposed/not painted.

Ryem3 - watch some of the dipyourcar DIY videos on Youtube. They'll show you all the tips n tricks. I also got my material from them (they are the only ones that sell anthracite grey. Home Depot etc. mostly sell matt black, white etc.) I also bought some Brake Dust Pro from them... used to to prep the wheels and it's supposed to be safe to use on Plastidipped rims. Really cut through the dust and grime effortlessly.

thanks Perk10. Your tip to razor blade the crests on the wheel caps, peel and then clear worked really well. Oh, and I noticed from your pics that you masked your fenders with poly... I didn't mask at all and the overspray that got on the body of the car wiped off with one pass of a microfiber towel. Saves a bunch of work not masking unnecessarily.

Thanks! Did that already! I was wondering about the overspray. It just wipes off? Really? That's amazing. I'll definitely be doing my wheels. I'm crazy enough, I would really consider the whole car. So for wheels, you don't need to worry about over spray into the barrels?

I think home Depot now has colors too, but I haven't been there yet.

overspray wipes off the body super easy (kind of rolls off with the towel since Plastidip is rubber-like). The overspray on the tires peels off if you lay it on thick, but I did have to scrub with a microfiber towel to get the thinly laid stuff near the tread off.

If you leave the wheels on the car when you spray, the barrels will get coverage. It won't be as thick so I think when you go to peel off the dip, the wheel faces will come off easily but you may have to remove the wheel to get the thin stuff off the barrels. But even the thin stuff comes off easily with some WD-40 or GooGone.

If you spray the wheels off the car, I read that it's best to drop the lugs in place to prevent dip on the wheel face in the lug holes... prevents it from getting chewed up when you wrench them onto the car. Or some suggest coins dropped in there as a mask.
