www.DipYourCar.com

There you can buy the Anthracite metallic as well as all the other colors.

I used 4 coats on each wheel (about 3/4 a can) and 2 coats of gloss.

Very glad I could help! The overspray plastic was just me being overly careful fwiw I had the car buffed out the next day anyways but you're right! Microfiber towel will take it right off (tires as well)...

Now to the people who don't know - DON'T wash your plasti dipped items with a dry towel! USE A CHAMOIS or WET your microfiber down first. I prefer to wet a towel and coat my wheels in spray wax to keep them slick and not so sticky when newly sprayed!

that's completely untrue. plasti dip is good for roughly 320 degrees Fahrenheit... for more information on plasti dip go to www.AutoDipDesigns.com

Read their FAQ as well as their "what is plasti dip" tab and you'll have a much better understanding

Any more pics around? How clean is the finish? Like any paint project, I'm sure the challenge is to find a dust free place to paint.

I don't have my own garage, so I did mine at the basement of a multi-storey carpark in the middle of the night.

Here's a pic while doing the red pinstripe (after plasti-dipping the wheel to black).

Guys, these look great. I have been considering plastidipping my new Cor wheels. I had them built with brushed face with clearcoat and chrome lip.

But I have been concerned about doing this on $5k wheels. But as I see more of you doing it on aftermarket wheels I'm getting encouraged. Wondering if I should do anthracite face and leave lip chrome and rivets bright or go all black except rivets GTR below. What do you think?

My car:

Option 1 for wheels:

Option 2

I like option 1 if the car is black.

Option 2 would work better if the car is Grey / Silver

Option 2. Keep in mind that from what I've seen, the anthracite is pretty dark - darker than the color on the M5 wheels. I need to buy a kit of that stuff and get started!

Do you think a dark center on chrome lip makes the depth of the lip get lost? Whereas with a matte lip you can see the texture and therefore depth of lip better? That is what makes me lean toward doing the lip too.

However, the lip seems it would be higher maintenance since its chrome and would be exposed to more elements, rocks etc.

I have zero experience with this stuff, but have seen several threads with people plasti dipping their cars, and I've always wanted to try it. My question: how long does this stuff stay on? If it is so easy to rub off, does all of it come off when you wash the car or if it rains? If anything, if you want it off, can you just go to a car wash and pressure wash it off easily?

I would really like to do some interior accents in red, but if I mess up, does it just rub off?

I really want to experiment with this stuff regardless, but thought I'd ask anyway... thanks in advance

I'm with you - you must like your black car as much as I like mine! I'm going to start with wheels.

Check out dipyourcar.com. And search youtube. Lots of videos. The stuff peels off easily initially then becomes pretty tough to peel off. It seems quite durable and could go through any car wash.

After some research, I've seen one thing. It is like painting anything. While the "paint" itself is a miracle product, you need to treat it like paint. If you have a lousy environment and let dust and other things on it, the finish will be poor. To do a car, seems like you basically need a paint booth. I'm going to try it on snow wheels and see how it goes. I would love to just do my whole car in anthracite, but that is a pretty ambitious project.

I love the stuff!

I PD'd the wheels on my Jeep a year ago and they look like I did them yesterday!
