ACRB is infamous around these parts
A general 997 question.

Hypothetically, if you have a 997 CS that has been well maintained with approximately 50- 60,000 miles on it. All services performed, never tracked….. will there be a noticeable depreciation in overall performance from when the car was new?
I know that a lot would depend on the individual car, but I was interested to know if there is a marked change after several years of driving. Basically, do these engines get tired?

Thanks.

I think if the car was well maintained and taken care of it, I don't see why it will diminish performance. Actually, engines should loosen up a little after a while.

I don't think performance, in general, degrades w/ mileage/age but rather reliability (mechanical parts such as bearings, etc. do wear out) tends to be an issue.

Mine just keeps getting better. I also don't understand why having been on the track would necessarily be a bad thing. To me having been on the track is indicative of being driven an enthusiast who takes his car seriously. I'd rather have a car that's done some de events than one that was just hooned around with all of the oil change documents.

While it's true tracking a car puts additional stresses on some components compared to typical driving, I often find tracked cars are better (over) maintained versus typical cars.
