What an amazing ride

Just did a 2000 mile run from rochester ny to Washington, D.C. Picked up my son and took off through the Shenandoah National Forest on to the Blue Ridge Parkway down to Asheville nc .....from there to Tennessee and we did the Tail of the Dragon then on to Valdosta Georgia. Today Valdosta to delray beach.

My 997.2 S had 2400 miles when we started. Great run ran like a champ.
Did my own rendition of grills before we left. Bought flexible plastic grill on eBay attached with black zip ties. Worked super. Attached a pic. Larry

Oustanding work young man
I'm a new owner of a 07' 911s and live just over the DC line and infact will be headed that way very soon with my wife. If you don't mind two requests? PM me your route, we might just follow that over Thanksgiving and source for the grill. If there is a thread on the forum LMK and I can figure it out...bloody college education was a waste
Again, WELL DONE.

would like more details, if possible, about the application of the grilles. Also, be careful--it looks like some prankster screwed a license plate frame into your front bumper!

I have wanted to come down and run the tail. Is there a good place to start, eat, stay?

Can you throw up a google map location by chance?
Thanks

How many days will you be staying? Knoxville or Chattanooga are good launch points if you are coming from OH. Time is running out this fall, need to make drive before Christmas or wait until at least March/April due to ice, snow and mountain road closings. Drop me a PM when you are ready to go, would be more than happy to suggest a route for you. Have personally run the TOD 15+ times.

Were you on 441 from NC to TN on Wednesday, if so I think I passed you, I was doing the loupe: Robbinsville >TOD > Foot Hills Parkway > Cherokee > Bryson City > Robbinsville.

The tail of the dragon is a short section of US129 that forms the southern border of the Smokey Mountain National Park. This is south of Knoxville TN. The other roads in the area are also awesome to drive on as well. They are all curvy with great scenery, just not intense the twisties of the 11 mile stretch of 129 called the dragon. The Cherohala Skyway (state road 143) turns off US 129 and is very nice. I drove 295 miles that day with only 40 miles being commuting to/from hotel to the good roads

Sounds like a great drive. I'm heading to VIR next weekend with NNJR. On the way I plan to stop in Raleigh to see the Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed at the North Carolina Museum of Art. After VIR I'll drive part of the way back on the Blue Ridge, cross over to Ashville and then on to the Dragon before heading back to Cincinnati. Probably the last good drive in the GTS before winter in SW Ohio.

From what i see he got hose plastic grills and zip tied them to the front frame. Good job. Lets hope it tough enough to deflect small stones at speed. Im thinking the plastic grille will deform to let stones go though i something hits it at speed.

Suggested route: from Asheville take Hwy 19 (alternate would be Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville) > Cherokee > Bryson City >19/74 > 19/74/28 > 28 North > Deals Gap (start of TOD) > 129 TOD > Foot Hills Parkway > 441 north > 66 North > I-40 Knoxville > Home

You will have a great time on these roads lots of twisties and great fun.
