So I won't waste too much time but had take a second and post up yet another thread on how much I LOVE the 997!!!
I have had 3 p-cars previously and just acquired number 4
Blessed is an understatement!
I was a 996 lover. Everything about it...the rawness, the bastardized reputation, the little DIYs which needed attention, the bland interior...in a weird Porsche enthusiast way---after 4yrs of ownership on the last C2...I LOVED IT!
That was until I purchased a 997
Never have I ever moved forward and never once blinked to look back. I always thought the 996 had the revs, the pull, the lines, and more to make me feel like a million bucks...but the 997 is SOOOO much an improvement over the 996.
The Porsche harmonic symphony sound coming from the rear is soo much throatier (have an S...3.8
) and the interior is soo refined it will never be mistaken as anything less then a Porsche. Where the 996 was lacking but had the love hate appeal---the 997 is the 200% improvement.
Overall I just had to make a quick shout out to the 997 series and fellow owners---drive on!

"the 997 is the 200% improvement. "
Not sure about 200% but sure is 100%. Just 2 weeks ago I went from '05 996 C4S TIP to
'09 C2S PDK and feel the same: better interior, better materials, superb engine, torque and acceleration. One dislike is the position of the window buttons as I much prefered them on the console.
As to the driving, 997 is more refined although at times I kind of miss the rawness of the C4S. I also find that I have to be a bit more attentive in my driving without the confidence of the 4 wheel drive. No regrets here.

Thanks everyone else!
Welcome and enjoy the new ride in good health. I think 996's are making a subtle come back though esp the C4S/Turbo and the GT3....still beautiful cars to me and i was initially one of those that hated everything about the 996.
Welcome to the 997 world. I too moved up from a 996 to a 997 and feel very satisfied. A lot of refinements. As for the window switch - you'll get used to it quickly - that's how they were in the classic 911's

I went from a 996 turbo to a 997 c2s.. immediately I could feel the improvement in the chassis. the car is more compliant and smoother.
that being said, I do miss the classic lines and richer feeling interior of my turbo. the turbo would really excite me on the weekends to awake from my slumber and go for a drive. I have to amp myself up nowadays to take the c2s out for a drive but when I do I really appreciate the handling it provides.
just lowered the car on springs which has helped, counter issue I have faced is that I am now feeling how much bodyroll the car has when in normal mode. when I engage the pasm the car struts stiffen up and remove the bodyroll. great in my mind for track use but on the street I never engage pasm. i think gt3 or gt2 sway bars are in order.

Guys, don't complain on the 997 window switch. It’s a very solid switch!
one day, I was getting out of the car, don't ask me why, but I totallyscrewed up on "how to get out of a car" so I ended up smashing meknee on that window switch and fall down in the parking lot
Lesson learned. Don’t take the car without having a coffee in the morning.
I was sure I destroyed the switch as my knee was hurting so bad. But itwas fine, just had to move the switch out a bit as me knee pushed it all in...
so every day I drive the car, I do respect the window switch
