180+ mph
How many of you have actually taken your car up to the 180 mph+ speeds?
Is there an actual track these speeds are possible or does it have to be done on the Autobahn?
How much distance do you need to get up to that speed? How long does it take to get up to that speed?

There is no way I can hit 180-190 mph in one mile on a stock 997.
It takes a very good laser and radar detector, an deserted interstate on a nicely tempered Friday night in the middle of nowhere on the way to Detroit and you'll have plenty of chances of hitting +180mph :-)

Attitude has nothing to do with it.
In a factory stock 997 normally aspirated car, its about the physics. 180 is not likely something you can hit with a 2 mile stretch to work with. 0 to 150 is easy.. to 160 is harder to 170 is very hard for the car.

When I bought my 996 in 99 I drove it from Ohio where I bought it back to Minnesota.
Early in the morning on the Illinois turnpike I got it up to 165. So much for break in. I saw a car up ahead and thought he might get out to see if is car stopped so I hauled it down.
I have no doubts the car would have hit rated speed. That's the way to break them in guys.
Car ran great for next 50k miles and 13 years.
