Extreme cold trouble starting

Hello
I just returned from a week long business trip, I parked my 997.2 c4s in the airport garage as usual. It was extremely cold while I was gone eg -15 at night and only low single dits during the day. When I got to my car it would not even turn over although the batter appeard to have enough power for lights etc. I tried several time waited tried again. Finally it did start. Any ideas here. Should I expect this again? Car is a2009.

Time for a new battery.

Agreed. I'm not facing any weather conditions near what the OP was faced with and I have already replaced the original battery in my '09. Plus I bought a battery maintainer for when the car is in lay-up mode.

Modern cars can fool you with the ability to light the headlamps while actually having not enough power to start the car.

As the others have stated, you are describing the need for a new battery. If it is the original, you have gotten your monies worth from an '09 installed battery.

I recall the dealer charge for replacement is around $500.

Good luck,

Dave

I paid around $110 for a porsche-specific battery at Auto Zone. Don't remember the guarantee specifics, but they were more than adequate.

No need to spend $500 when you can get a better battery and warranty with a Wal-Mart or Interstate H7 for less than $150.

It sounds dumb to say, but just be carefully and don't put it in backwards. It's easier to get it wrong than you'd think.

I changed the battery on my 09 in the summer.
I got the Porsche branded battery, the car was at home, picked it up and installed it myself. Hindsite, should have saved the 100USDs and got an H7 at walmart like everyone else.
I have a 100 USD porsche label on my battery, :-)

As everyone said, most likely your battery (CCA or cold cranking amps).

Careful with your back. I have a good back but that puppy could be heavy due to the location. Don't forget to connect the drain hose --- or don't lose it (nipples and all).

Sounds like a great battery. Is the drain hose difficult to reconnect? Perhaps there is simple DIY? Or maybe is so simp,e a DIY is a ridiculous idea

It should be ez. Just make notes of the connections. A lot of people here forget the drain tube or lose the nipple.
