Did something come off.....

I was just happen to check under the front bumper today and notice this rectangular opening. It is located under the passenger side front bumper and my car is 2009 C4S. I don't remember seeing this opening in the past. Does anyone has any idea? If something did come off, what is it? And how do I got about ordering a replacement? TIA.

John

My '06 has that same opening, the other side has a plastic rectangle covering the hole.

on the 997.1 there is no cover but looks like there should be on 997.2 (based on u speed nut shown in picture). The hole is there to gain access to outside air temp probe w/o needing to remove entire bumper skin.

Asked same question. You are fine. 997.2's have this opening as stated above.

Thanks guy for the info. There has been a lot of snow here lately and I have been literally plowing snow due to the low ground clearance. That was the reason I checked under the car. I am glade nothing is missing. Once again I appreciate all the reply.

The horns are located inside the bumper just above that opening. I always assumed the opening was there to allow the sound of the horn to "escape" and increase the clarity and volume of the horns.

...as one who regularly works on my car (to the best of my novice ability!) i can assure you that Porsche made NOTHING simple as far as "gaining access". in fact, i'm surprised we dont have to drop the engine just to change that temp probe.
