Clear Bra... Vinyl Bra...., or no Bra

06 997 Midnight Blue

Trying to decide and get info on the Clear Bra vs Vinyl Bra, or no Bra? I just called and spoke to a gentlemen that gave high remarks on the 3M clear bra, but said on Midnight Blue it may look grainy and noticeable in certain lights that people dont like. I dont want to put it on and see something ugly and distracting. He gave me all the pros and cons which I appreciate. Anyone have a darker Porsche that put a Clear bra on? and your comments. How did it last after a year? I want to hear your experiences and preferences.
I DID just purchase a Vinyl Bra, custom made, and side mirrors, but it has to sit in the sun before I put it on, pain in the butt you could say, not too quick..and the Clear Bra sounds really protective, and permanent. I learned my lesson with my Boxster, when you drive the freeway alot, the front end, side mirrors looked horrible after a couple of years. A clear bra on a dark car might take the look away... Noticeable Grainy????? Nada

No problem with a clear bra, I'd recommend it for all colors. Yes you can see it if you look closely but a vinyl shows more and damages the paint more bc it's not perfectly sealed.

Go with Premiere on a clear bra. Cost is reasonable and work is excellent. I recommend covering fendors, hood, bumper, mirrors at a min. Coverage for door sill and wheel well is optional.

No bra means chips. I rather have a near invisible line than a bunch of chips.

Vikki I have a clear bra on all my cars.

it's more noticable on my Blue M3 than it is on my Seal Ghey Porsches.

Don't go no bra. I just sold a 2005 C2 with 10,500 miles and the front had a lot of dings from road debris. Go clear and do it soon.

I refused to drive off the lot without my clear bra. Clear Armor of the Bay Area did an awesome job and actully applied the clear bra material in many "strategic" locations on the car: Gas tank, door jams, door ridges, mirrors, etc. They have a great 997 "kit" and I highly recommend it.

I can see the line on my Seal Grey, but it isnt intrusive and is well well worth the expense.

Good luck and you can check out mine on the 9/10 Bay Area cruise!

For city...I go no bra, but if I travel I use standard bra and then take it off when I reach the destination (so I can cruise in style )

Clear...especially on midnight...Although that color is a beauty, it scratches and swirls so easily!

Same here, I cover the mirrors too.
24,000 miles and the car looks NEW.

I have a somewhat discenting opinion. The reason for paint is to protect the metal. I absolutely hate the orange peel like look of the "clear bras" and that aweful line across the hood (I do have the clear bra on 4 of my cars). Never under any circumstances put that vinyl thing on...It will destroy the paint worse than rock chips (and it looks like Sh*t, IMO). For my P-car it is NO BRA!!! I do have an excellent painter who can touch-up and repaint like an artist.

I put a 3m clear cover before leaving the dealer. One track event and I had a rock penetrate the clear coating on the hood.
Nothings perfect.
