Minimal kit to tighten CLs
Minimal kit to tighten CLs
Trying to assemble the minimal kit of parts to insure my CLs are tight (e.g., DE or AX prep). Since I am not removing the wheels, I think a breaker bar and torque wrench would be the minimal set, but thinking about minimizing the costs.
I can't think of any way to cut the cost on the torque wrench.
However, with the breaker bar, can the PI torque wrench (or another) be used to loosen the CLs?
If I am emptying the car anyway for AX or DE, can I just buy a 48" breaker bar rather than the collapsible? They are much less expensive. Store across the rear footwell when transporting it.

You could use the PI wrench to loosen the CLs. However, you would need to rotate the head 180 deg. before using it. The instructions in the kit explain wrench head orientation.
I purchased a 42" 3/4" breaker bar which fits nicely along the floor on the passenger side towards the door. I put 2 socks over the handle head to keep it from marring anything it might touch. At 180 lb. I sometimes have to stand and bounce on the 42" breaker bar to loosen the nut. That's why I prefer the bar to the wrench for loosening the nut.

I don't mean any disrespect at all to your question, and there is no intended sarcasm in this response, but wouldn't calling or visiting your local dealer and talking to a Tech really be the gold standard for the best info? The GTS CL's are a PITA and it seems a little high strung so if I were going to do what you intend to do (even though it doesn't seem that complicated) I'd get info from someone who is trained in servicing them (not that you couldn't get good info here, it's just that you can't really assess the source and the info provided - plus you'd have Porsche's take and then the take of people here to compare). Good luck.
