Is that true?

One of my friend wants to trade his 08 c2 (55000 miles) for a 08 Mb C300, MB dealership only give him 27k for his C2, that's way less than the lowest value from Kbb.
In the end he decide to keep his C2.
I am a little bit upset because our beautiful 997 doesn't keep it's own resale value, but I mean when we drive our car on the street, the feeling of a Porsche owner is a lot more than just 27k.

Does it have a clean carfax ?
Condition? Is it poorly optioned? Does it need service? Tires? Wheels?
Dealers always will offer less than private party, but that's to be expected.
$27K seems low as shhiit.

That is terrible. They are trying to make 20k off him. I don't know though maybe it has 10 owners a salvaged title and 4 accidents on the carfax? Or maybe they just wanted to buy the wheels?

Seems every folks here can't take that "deal"
His car is in good condition, new tires, new brakes and even new belt, only has a paint job on right side quarter panel, and of course a clean carfax.
I am glad he wants to keep his car now, maybe this bad winter snow shake his mind.
We both drive our car out today and enjoy the feeling of a porscher, and he said he was nearly lose it, lol.
I am happy now cuz you guys are amazing by standing behind our car.

I bought a s550 for my pops a while back 2009 immaculate condition. He didn't like it cause it was too big for him. I tried to trade it in for 2010 e550. E550 had a couple thousand more miles. They wanted me to put in $5000 for the trade. Never will buy a Benz. The dealer was in Manhattan.

You can't blame the dealer. He is in business to make money. It may not be a car he can sell easily to his market so he maybe planed to wholesale it. I told my dealer that KBB said it was worth more he said then sell it to them. I did not want to bother selling the car myself so traded it in. These cars are expensive and don't hold their value you have to decide if you want to play in the Porsche game. I have decided yes, buts that's just me it's about the car not the money.

$27 for a clean 08,
not sure, I think the 550's came out sooner and they updated i think every 3 years. I wasn't really into cars until I got my first c2s. the benz was for my pops.

Agree. Dealers (or all of us) wake up and breath to make money. It's just the game.
Here is the worst I have seen: 2007 well-optioned $130K C4s, 2 years later with 13000 miles, bought by the Porsche dealer for $59,000.00. I felt sorry for the original owner (though I heard it was a company car).
I worked with a guy years ago. He had sold BMWs when he was younger. He explained to me the term "steal the trade". Basically give a decent discount on the car he selling, get the buyer emotionally attached, then get the trade in car at a deep discount. Used cars are always better margins for the dealer. Everyone knows the invoice of a new car from the internet. Nobody outside the dealership knows what they paid for used car except the person who traded it in.
That's the game. They take your way undervalued trade in. Put in a detail job. Sell it and make $$$.

-2008 Mazda CX-9, less than 50K miles, probably could have sold for about $18K private party, got $14K from the Audi dealer in trade for Q5.
-2005 Audi S4 Cabriolet, fairly high miles, probably could have sold for $10-10.5K, got $7K from the Porsche dealer in trade for Carrera S Cab.
But ... are now in two low-mileage, near-mint, well-optioned 2011s with CPOs good for 5 and 4 years, respectively.
