Is that true?
Dealers factor in things like condition, cleanliness, accident history, KBB wholesale/trade in value and what a trade in will need in order for it to be attractive for retail sale. The popularity of the new car is also a factor. Your post also didn't say whether this was the MB dealer's best and final offer on the trade in. The first offer is usually low on the trade and high on the new car. Most Americans aren't used to negotiating or are too lazy to engage in it.
