marlon 997 is infamous around these parts
Bought my 2006 997S two years ago for 45K -- PPI revealed zero issues. The leaky RMS is non-starter IMO. I'd keep looking.

The slow start is the battery cable needs replacing (known issue to this year/model) I just had it done on my 07 C4S after testing the new battery. The indy mechanic said I should replace the starter too. Parts and labor about $600, and it fixed the problem. The leaking oil is a big concern. If you have to have that car, tell the dealer to fix the oil leak at a Porsche dealer and replace the battery cable and starter and you'll give him $43K DRIVEOUT. IMHO, keep looking.

You have to consider the P dealership is doing this inspection like inspecting a brand new car, so details are bound to come up, the oil leak would be my only concern, when I got my car the battery was low on charge due to the car sitting, it may be as simple as to do a "slow charge" on it, but could also be the cable as mentioned, but with 30k miles I suspect it will be a weak battery, the rest of the cosmetic stuff I wouldn't worry too much about, the rim can be repaired with 60 bucks, the touch up on the paint, ohh well, gravel happens, breaks can be expensive, try to negotiate with seller to knock a bit more off because of that? as some one said there are a bit of 911's out there but if this is the color you want there are not that many of those, so sacrifice the color or slowly fix the issues, the price seems fair.... just y 2 cents

Sounds pretty normal for a 33k 7 year old car. I am not put off by that stuff at all. Pretty darn minor in my book.

Peace

RMS leak pretty darn minor??....maybe if the buyer does not mind ponying up more cash to fix his "new" car upon purchase! I say walk away unless at least that issue is taken care of prior to purchase. As someone else posted above....lots of other nice girls around to settle. (or something to that effect)

I would have the dealer fix the leak, change the brake and run DME report. may be then I will pay them $46500 out the door. But if they are not willing to fix the issue which I don't think they will, then walk away and look for another car. There are a lot of 997 in the market right now. Including mine, accept I will pay for your shipping to CA port

where's the detailed pics of the cracked windshield, damaged bumperette, curb rash, fixed chips and scratches, etc ?

Most of the things, including the RMS, is fixable... but it will cost u $$.

if 1) the color combo and features of this car appeals to u and 2) the dealer is willing to work with u on the price to offset some repairs, it may be ok.

But i would never buy a car, new or used, without a test drive.

My point to walk away...is not about the $$ or being able to fix it. The previous owner did not maintain his car....fix the issues as they came up. People who don't take care if their cars have a tendency to drive them hard and skimp on routine maintenance. She's been driven hard and put away wet....and she's burnin oil...lol.... Walk away.

Speaking specifically to the RMS - I've been at this for a while and both the Porsche dealer and local Porsche Specialists in NJ (Provost Motorsports and Brother to Brother) have told me that they see one 997.1 after another come in with leaky RMS's. They said to leave it alone until a clutch change and to pay attention to oil levels in the interim. It's not an issue. I have a tiny bit of leak with mine and it's never, and I mean never, even amounted to one drop on my garage floor.

My 2000 Boxster S RMS seaped oil for 150K miles..... Again, I don't see this car as bad as most here feel. But hey, I drive my car and well, it gets used.

Look, if this stuff freaks you out, avoid this car as all you will do is worry about it.

Peace
