NFS007,
You won't know if "Redline Ricky" used the car in a Need for Speed movie chase scene until you see the overrev report. My initial feelings are that this car was driven hard, you wont know how hard until you see the DME report.

Wouldn't that suck if you bought the car and figured out it had too many issues and tried to sell it. The next guy does look at the DME report and the over rev report looks like a nightmare. Now you cant sell the car.

Please post the 6 over rev zones from the DME report and we'll be happy to interpret the numbers.

We are just trying to help you get a nice car...

I realize I probably look at things a bit differently than most people since I end up taking every car I've owned apart to some level and the one in my avatar has been taken apart many times and will be again (for a check up and some new modifications) in the next 30 days. When you search for a used car and you start checking boxes like color, option etc, as if you are building a new car to order you are going to probably have to compromise. Let's be honest it is rare to find a 7 year old car without issues (either it had them and they were fixed or it was not driven enough which can cause other problems) and when you put certain colors and options as must haves even harder. As a buyer you need to have a comfort level with the car you buy and if you are not handy a good shop that can help you fix the issues that come up. I have been doing mods to cars (and designing one off parts for my cars) for close to 40 years and I have never been happy with any (even my Ferrari's) that came from the factory so I change them. I doubt most of you would ever buy a car I owned because of that. Good luck in your search.

I just went through what you are going through now. I purchased a 2008 C4S that had similar issues this 2007 has. The dealer agreed to repair the oil leak and I paid for everything else. I ended up spending $1500.00 on repairs, some I did some the dealer did. Now I know what I have, all used cars have issues. Ask your self if $1500-$2000 is enough to make you walk away, if it is walk. I would get the DME report done, I did mine, had a few over revs, I still bought it. Good Luck

Just saw the thread.

Personally unless you get another $2,500 off MINIMUM I'd walk away.

Use that cash to address the issues that it has.

In your shoes, I'd just walk away. To me it is not worth the time to have these issues fixed and the headaches of dealing with dealers and repair shops unless you have a good relationship with a local one near you.

You're buying a car to drive and enjoy…not to fix up. If you're looking for a fixer upper then but one that's totally screwed and go from there. I learned my lesson on having a few vehicles that I have modded and fixed issues on. At end of day it's a waste of time.

I want a car to turn the key and drive away without knowing in back of my mind that I have to fix.

Also, these issues may be just the tip of the ice berg.

I have to say that last statement is good advise, There are so many good no issue cars out there. Maybe spend an extra 5K now and have a turn key car.
If it s taking this long to pull the trigger then something is telling you to move away.

Looks like a very nice car, but I hope you got at least an additional $2,500 off to apply towards the repairs. Regarding the wheels, I see you are in Florida. Take or send them to Turbax, and they will repair them to like new condition.

I've been using them for many years here in South Florida.

Rob.

Just caught this thread, so I hope you got what you want. If its Cobalt Blue, that would be even better, but I'm biased!

Hey sftgt3, I hope so too and yes I'm looking at another cobalt blue..

Ok now on to the main convo... I just received the PPI report for another porsche I'm interested in purchasing and would like to share the findings with everyone to get opinions on whether I should be concerned. Just a little heads up there are very minor issues that you'll see on the report.

Thanks guys!

Here's a photo of the RMS area with findings. Technician took this photo showing some signs of the oil seepage not "leaking" coming from the rear main seal area.

don t like the oil leak. RMS.?
don t like "no service history". it may need plugs ($700 job unless you can DIY, but it in t easy).
Front and rear spoiler painted... plus possible damaged wheels repaired. Maybe an accident car.
Tires coming up very soon.
I think you can do better as far as condition of cars. Now I don t know about price and mileage so....
