function first trans bushing inserts review
Product is here. I got the street version.
Just installed these yesterday and got a little bit of driving in. Kind of a pain to get the trans mount out on jack stands, a lift would definitely make this job a lot easier.
I already had RSS engine mounts and I could feel the trans bouncing around especially when quickly disengaging the clutch. Adding these definitely made a huge difference - the whole car feels tight and precise now. Shifting feels almost as good as a Honda.
I noticed absolutely no new vibration or harshness, but now I can hear some exhaust drone. It's not annoying and the car drives so damn well that I wasn't paying any attention to it. I have a cab so it's probably worse than it would be on a coupe. I might try swapping the engine mounts to something other than the RSS mounts to see if it evens out. I have not had a chance to drive it with the top down to see if it reduces or increases the cowl shake I got after installing the RSS mounts.
Overall I really like these, price is a bit steep for urethane inserts but they are well designed and work very well. I think I will look into their engine mount upgrade since the RSS mounts added a little too much cowl shake to my cab.

Agreed. Shifting is almost as good as an S2000 shifter. Precise and solid. I have the Track version along with Porsche RS Engine mounts, and the shifting sensation is fantastic compared to OEM, but the driveline noise is more enhanced now with my LWFW. Your review whet my interest, so I am going to try the Yellow "Street" version soon. Thanks.

How many miles on your car?
I guess the reason I ask is, are the stock mounts something that get worse with age/miles? My car only has 15k miles and it shifts great...but I have no reference really...other than I did install the OEM GT3 shifter with metal bushings and that made a huge difference in the shifter feel. I guess if I have to ask then I don't need them, but just trying to understand what you're feeling with the stock mounts.

My car has 36k miles on it. Before engine mounts my car would 'kangaroo' quite a bit when getting into gear (the clutch pedal on the turbo is assisted so its hard to modulate - meant to post in turbo section). Engine mounts fixed that but the shifter was still just a bit numb and w/ the harder engine mounts I'm sure more stress was being put onto the trans bushing.
Hmmm...I'll pay more attention, is this something more turbo related because of that clutch? I've never driven a turbo.
Not to get too far off topic, but if you get a chance to look over a new Viper, check out the shifting action in that thing! I know it's a conventional front engine setup, but good god...talk about rifle bolt! That thing is Remington bolt action 30-06 with what feels like a 1" throw.

i have the X51 package and feel like I have to work too hard to have smooth clutch action compared to previous 997.1S that was lovely shifting... the car has 22000km's ... will these help me or make things worse?...I keep thinking this whole thing is a product of the way previous owner broke in the car/clutch, anyway, would love more precision in the trans action, always...
I found lots of feedback on the inserts in this thread...looks to definitely improve shifter feel and accuracy based on the reviews:
