Opinions Please - 2 Choices
I am looking at getting back into another car and wanted to get some opinions on two choices:
1. 2010 C4S cab - PDK and loaded with options with 4K miles
2. 2011 GTS cab - PDK and loaded with options, but of course has centerlocks with 3K miles
There is a $6K higher price with the GTS for a year newer and the GTS platform. Both cars are perfect and would be exactly what I would order given the chance, so which would you choose? My former car was a 2007 GT3 and I know that both cars won't perform quite like that one, but I really wanted to get into a more compliant weekend toy which these two options represent.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance for the help.

What color schemes (paint, wheels, interiors)? With two very nice choices on the table, the color scheme might sway me if I were buying. In either case I don't think you'll lose.
If you were farther north the 4 might decide it, but I see you are also a Texan so that takes that out of the equation since the 2 wheel drives gets fine traction in normal conditions anyway (and they are both wide-bodies).
Nice dilemma to have!

The GTS still has the rear seats. The centre-locks can be swapped for 5-lugs, I believe there's a write-up on Rennlist if your interested. Both cars have wide bodies, so it really depends on how much you value the extra HP vs. 4wd vs. cash...
didn t realize that.

Both cars are full leather and black. The C4S has two-tone black and sand beige full leather (really nice). The GTS is triple black. I agree that I don't need the 4 because I would not be facing snow, but I do like the looks of a wider body. The downside is extra weight in the 4. I think the GTS is going to feel a bit peppier because of the weight differential and the extra small amount of horsepower. The GTS does have back seats, so I can throw in the kids if I had to. I am leaning toward the GTS because of its uniqueness, but I really like the looks of the C4S with that leather combination. We shall see…..Thanks for the feedback.
Another plus for both - they are both certified. I don't care for centerlocks so that is the only downside of the GTS. If I do track the GTS, then it's a pain to torque the wheels after runs.
I don't think there is a lot of difference between a 4 or a 2 for normal driving conditions. You might notice it more at the track taking both cars to the limits, but for normal driving it probably is not noticeable.
I thought my prior C4 exhibited a lot more off-throttle understeer while my newer C2S is more balanced and seems more nimble overall, but the newer one is also an S and a Gen II so that may be part of it. (Note that I edited my earlier post where I stated on-throttle understeer after noting qikqbn's later post about it; I typed it backwards. It did have me looking into stiffer sway bars though.)
Just to be clear, the GTS is also a wide-body, albeit a 2 wheel drive one.
I saw somewhere that the conversion to 5 lug is around 2K, but then you also have to buy new wheels. I think that if I got a center lock I'd just keep it since I like the look of center lock a lot (but would dread removing the wheels). But then, I like the C4S a lot too. A wonderful quandary to have.

GTS has 23 extra HP and being 2wd will be marginally lighter than the C4S.
The centerlocks can be converted to 5 lug, but I seem to remember it being quite a bit more than 2k. Plus, the centerlocks are part of what makes the GTS unique.
You'll need a $400 torque wrench and breaker bar to remove them, but they are pretty.

Sorry, but this is the nearly the silliest statement I've seen posted on 6speed. 'Normal' has to include the rain on the way home after a sunny day. Scooter, get some FOCUSED seat time in a 4s, wet OR dry. I see you ran a 4 in the past, and TX doesn't see too much white stuff, but rain is the real reason for the all-wheel. Why do you think there is a all wheel drive system? Why does the 918 and the other, P1 have the system? The engineers and top drivers know why.
nice vid comparison between a 2S and the 4S in the rain. In the rain/wet, there is no contest between 2S and 4S.. the 4S walks away with so much more confidence and control. So how often does it rain where you live?? take that in to consideration.
My experience is that every Carrera 2S I have driven (friends cars) have had a lot more pucker factor when the front end pushes/understeers with initial turn in and mid corner throttle application then my 4S . In my 4S I feel way more confident in the tight stuff and applying throttle earlier in the corners. The added weight over the front axle and all four tires clawing at the pavement are an advantage in wet and dry conditions... Although admittedly in the dry straight line acceleration it will tip towards the GTS
With that said... The GTS seems to be the more desirable car because it is a bit more unique and has the more powerful engine... Plus, I love the front end on the GTS. If you live in a dry climate with very little rain... GTS all the way. If you do get lots of rain or occasional snow, then the C4S all the way.
just my humble opinion. tough decision, life could be worse...
