cleaning or replacing headlights

My headlights on my 2006 911s are a bit faded. The lights work fine but its the plastic covers. I've cleaned the outside but I believe the inside needs cleaning or they just need replacing to get that clear look. Anyone have any tips on removing and/or replacing the headlight covers?

I used Meguires headlight restore kit, comes with 1000 grit wet sand, then 3000 grit, then plastic polish/clean, then sealant. Worked well on my M3 although I need more aggressive grit at first stage to get surface perfect. I've read that sanding cover will remove UV protection that is manufactured into the lense so regular sealant protection or clear bra is a good idea

Plastic headlamp lenses are made from polycarbonate. This material is chosen because of its good impact resistance and will not shatter in collisions with pedestrians (tail lamp lenses are typically made from acrylic). Polycarbonate, however, has extremely poor chemical and UV resistance. This is why it needs to "hard coated". One should never polish plastic headlamps and be careful when cleaning. Mild detergents only. Otherwise you can damage the coating and they haze and/or turn yellow early. Other than using the restore kits you can only replace the assembly ($$$)

I HIGHLY recommend clear bra for headlights. (entire front ends actually) Not only will it protect against chips/cracks but reduce the fading/yellowing that nature causes.

What about doing a headlight restoration with the UV sealer? This place I went to uses a special UV light to cure the UV sealer?
