Plug/coil pack change

A buddy and I changed the plugs, coil packs and air filter on the wife's '08 C4 Saturday. Porsche quoted $1500.00 for 6 plugs, check and replace filters and serpentine belt if needed. I bought the plug/Coil combo from ECS tuning for just over $300.00 and an air filter for about $20.00. It took us about 5 hours to change plugs/coils and about 45 minutes for air filter. We cleaned MAF while we had the air box out. serpentine looked good. took about 3 hours for drivers side as we didn't know which tools exactly that we needed or how to go about it. We removed the mufflers and tailpipe extension on both sides. Driver's side is easier but by the time we got to passenger side we had it down to 2 hours. Could have been easier but for the bracket that holds the muffler on. his hands too short and mine too long for the coil pack. I finally had to get it from top while he described which way my hands needed to go. If we ever do it again, we will try to remove the bracket first.
All in all, wasn't real bad. Quite a sense of satisfaction knowing we save hundreds of dollars over dealership price.

The 997.2 is even easier and probably takes half the time for the 997.1, yet dealer charges about the same. Stealership should do something about it....after warranty they should have a program for owners....
Great job plady, i does give you a sense of accomplishment doesnt it. Now you know you can do it the car becomes more your car!
