HID fogs?

Has anyone put HIDs into their fog lights?

One of my bulbs burnt out, and my first reaction was to go get the LED DRLs instead of replacing the bulb.. But then I thought maybe I can get something that will improve my lighting instead of worsen it.

I can't believe how cheap H8 HID kits are now. 10 years ago such a thing was ~$600, now there are $25 kits on Ebay.

Huh?

HID's are what the headlights are, which in conjunction with the beam patterns they produce, eliminate the need for fog lights on the cars that come with HID lights.

Amping up a lighting system beyond its designed capacity is a bad idea as it causes distraction to oncoming drivers and can cause head problems for the surrounding housing/bodywork.

Hmm well 997s come with fog lights from the factory, and HID bulbs run cooler than the stock halogens. There are cars that have HID fogs from the factory.

But you bring up a good point about the beam pattern being incorrect for the housing.

I was thinking the same about the LED DRL, but I got a really deal from one of the forum member. I went against my gut and bought the LED DRL, oh boy I love the illumination, the lights are crystal clear and look factory with higher lumen output. It worth every penny, now I am debating about the rear Dectane LED

killacam, it's a replica GT2 wing. I forget the exact make but I can dig out the receipt if you are interested.

GotGolf52 thanks for the tip - that is a surprise, I expected the aftermarket LEDs to be dimmer. I may look into this. There are still sporadic reports of codes going off on them, years after they're new, but they're getting pretty cheap so maybe worth a try.

The 997.2 does NOT come with fog lights from the factory in the US spec at least. It does have DRLs but those are an absolutely different lighting system for a different purpose. You must be referring to the 997.1 then.
