car up on stands. PIC
car up on stands. PIC
For the first time had to get all four corners off the ground at once.
Here is a pic for those who may be interested. I jacked the rear side up one at a time(from rear side jack points) which also brings the front up to put a jack stand under the front (jack point)Same thing on other side. I put a few blocks under rear cross member just in case a jack was to go. I just wish there was another way to get another rear jack stand at the jack points without putting a jack under that rear cross member to lift it. I don t like that idea as I have heard some say it can damage motor mounts among other things ( don t know ) but didn t want to chance it.
Getting four new tires and also did a brake fluid flush and cleaned/waxed brake calipers
.
(see tires for sale in the classified section).

That's why I bought jackpoint jackstands (no affiliation). I just hated putting any weight on the motor mounts or suspension components. They are expensive but well worth the peace of mind.
I can remove both wheels after jacking the rear only and it feels super safe

Interesting, mind explaining how they work? Nice.
Here is a YouTube link which shows how the Jackpoint jack stands work. You can also Google their website.
They are definitely pricey, and unfortunately they aren't adjustable. I've been thinking of getting a set, but I am concerned about how much space I'll have under the car (you are limited to the max height of the jack stand itself). It looks pretty tight under there, especially if I had to do a lot of moving around. I've been holding off because I am wondering if it would be better to put that money towards a home lift.

why is it fine for a minute and not longer? some say it's fine and others say it isn't. Sadly no actual evidence of either (would need a randomized control trial). With the jackpoint jackstand there no guessing/speculating.

Having worked on cars for many decades, what I have done is actually put layers of wood (e.g., layers of plywood, 4x4-joined-together, etc.) "under" the jackstands. This is how I gain extra heights with my jackstands. For these units, you can simply place your woods on the concrete, then place the jackstand on the wood.
I almost bought those units and was planning on making a "C-shaped" 4x4 units to elevate/adjust the height.
flame on.

Out of context, but for those trying to buy jacks, don't buy the Sears ones. I have tried 3 models and they break around 6 months "after" warranty period. No more Sears jacks for me.

Do you have the standard-size Jackpoints or the low-profile ones? I have 5" of ground clearance and my jack will go all the way up to just under 15". I'm hoping the standard ones would work as every bit of extra lift will help. I can't stand working under a car when my nose is constantly scraping the under carriage.

Also it's the only choice you have if you want to put it up on 4 stands.
I was advised to use this point by a Porsche technician.
Good photo of where to jack up the rear suspension - see figure 2
