Noise from dash when Aircon is running

Hi All

I have a 2005 997 s which has developed a noise when the air con is running. The temp is nice and cold but there is a strange noise or groan after it has been running for a 5-10 mins

It isn't the fan as the noise stops if I press the eco button

It would be great if any of you kind please could shed some light on this issue

Many thanks

AC unit has fan and compressor. If it is not the fan that leaves the latter. Fwiw, I have no groans just an occasional "gurgle". Checked coolant level?

thank you for your reply

I forgot to mention that the noise is coming from behind the dashboard?

The noise I get is from there too but usually I hear it when turning it off. Not really a moaning but hard to describe sounds. Ghosts in the Machine? If it is cooling well perhaps not to worry.

If you have had the AC serviced, it could be air in the line.

Hi
My 997 does the same thing. I get a intermittent groaning noise after the car has warmed up. It goes away when you turn the air con off. It’s appears to be coming from the air con pipes resonating at the front of the car near the evaporator valve (behind the dash).

Did you find out what was causing your issue?

Cheers
Ben

I had to replace the fan blower that is behind the glovebox. Luckily someone from Rennlist, who'd been building a race car, sent me his surplus blower for free! He was in America and I'm in New Zealand. That's the spirit of the Porsche community.

Anyway, quite easy to replace. Remove the glovebox, remove old blower, unplug power, plug new one in, installation is reverse of removal.
